Where near l.a. you from? I thought i was the only one that did that.... LOL! j/k man. Swonder67 07-08-2003, 12:42 PM Don't forget to wash all the pieces you are gonna paint THOROUGHLY!!! All those years of Armoral left a nice thick coat of grease on the pieces, if you try to spray the paint directly onto the pieces without washing them, the paint might not stick in certain places... Also, after washing the pieces, you could spray them with Adhesive Promoter (available at most auto parts stores). Adhesive promoter is a clear spray, kinda like a primer, it'll help the paint sick to the pieces and it will leave a more even spray. BTW, I would use krylon too. whiteracer 07-08-2003, 01:30 PM you could spray them with Adhesive Promoter (available at most auto parts stores). I've painted up some of my interior junk. All I did was wash up the pieces real good. Maybe even wiped down with some rubbing alcohol, then sprayed on 2 coats of Bulldog brand adheisve premotor perpiece, letting 20 minutes between coats to dry. Then sprayed on the Krylon paint I used. 2-3 coats. I know that seems thin, but almost a year later, and no flakes or chips yet. Can always be touched up if need be, or stripped and then the whole process redone. I opted NOT to sand the pieces incase I were to ever want to restore them back to stock look. BTW, the Krylon I used on my interior stuff is the SAME Krylon I used to paint my OEM sideskirts over 2 years ago. Not a single chip or flake off of those yet to date. I did prep those quite a bit different though them being an externally mounted piece. I 220 grit paper wet sanded them down to a dull gray finish, washed them down, then began an almost half day paint process. Used 5-6 coats of paint on them, and 3 coats of clearcoat. Especially for external pieces, prep work is the MOST important step, and will make or break the quality of the work and how long it lasts. VTWanderer07 07-16-2003, 02:52 PM any suggestions for clear coat brands out there? Cobrakessen 09-01-2004, 10:56 AM Nope, never done that step in my life! :bigthumb: :icesangel haha, naw. If you did want to restore your interior back to stock how would you go about doing that.im thinking of doing the same but with a clear coat on it as well.but the option would be nice to restore to stock, and let me breath alittle easier while painting if its easy to reverse, especally if it ended up looking bad and ending up like this guy --> :banghead: Darb 2k 09-01-2004, 11:59 PM yea i need to touch up a couple places, how would i go about it? just paint right over? suggestions? its chipped a bit but not too bad, and i need to clean it too, any suggestions to cleaning painted plastic interior peices?
