My friend was looking for a Blazer, and he came across one with 268k miles on it... I think he took it for a test drive and it didn't run so great...

My car has 104k. Not so bad for a 37 year old car.

A frind of mine's dad just sold his meticulously maintaines 1983 Porsche 944 with 450,000 miles on it. Sure, just about everything on it has been replaced at some point, but it's still the original chassis and engine. The guy who bought it was the mechanic who maintained it. Having owned 2 944's myself (traded one in with 170k, still have one with 179k and a blown engine), I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see the car.

9,000,000 miles? That sounds like bullshit to me especially when you say its the original engine. Components wear, there's no way to prevent it, just postpone it.

That red car is a Volvo P1800. He doesn't have 9,000,000 miles, but it does in fact have over 1,000,000 miles on the original engine, which is pretty damn impressive.

That's Irv Gordon's Volvo. It has about 2,000,000 miles now (there's a few Volvo related sites out there with Irvmeters that track his current mileage). He rebuilt it at 400,000 miles because he didn't like what he heard as I recall. Other than that it is still stock and running on the same engine for ever. I last saw it a few years ago in Boston. It's in great shape yet at the same time you could see it is lived in daily as Irv drives a lot!

Thanks.

1991 GMC Sonoma with a 2.8 and a 5 spd with 259,000 miles.
A friend at work has a 1993 Chrysler minivan with 260,000 miles. I told her to call Chrysler. They might want to buy it back, as it must be the only one to have achieved that figure, up here in the Rust Belt.

Let's see I have a 1985 Prosche 911 with 155K, a 1991 Range Rover with 169K, and a 1997 Chevy Tahoe with 110K.

That means I have 434,000 MILES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Of this I & wife put on 318,000.)

No engine rebuilds, valve job on RR, plenty of expensive fixes on Porsche tranny. Change oil, automatic tranny fluid, and anti-freeze frequently.

Stuff breaks...I fix it. Each can probably go 100K more.

my 68 dodge charger has well over 1,000,000 miles on it. but just about everything has been replaced on it including most of the interior and a lot of the body panels. it spent most of the late 70's and early 80's as a drag car and went through about two engines during its drag days its had four engines in its lifetime and god knows how many tranny's.

Best personally was a 91 Subaru Legacy Wagon hit 226,000 when I sold it to a friend for $300. Its still rolling around and has surpassed 232,000 miles.

In the latest issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines (great mag) a guy with a late 60's early 70's Dodge Charger hit 400,000 miles. Pretty incredible for a muscle car but he is the original owner. Had the motor rebuilt when it was in the 240,000 mile range. Just goes to show if you actually take care of things...............

Forgot to mention - my old man has a 1999 Chevy Suburban with 260,000 miles on the original engine/transmission. He travels a lot but that is still pretty impressive. He just had some service done, timing belt, plugs, waterpump, etc so I guess it will be good for another 260,000.
