Its likely a broken/corroded wire. They like to break right where it attached to the control arm.

...Which is why many places sold sections of the ABS sensor harnesses and usually kept them in stock. As you know, it's fairly common, and somtimes right inside the cable itself.

Yeah. When I had my Grand Prix I had to replace a section on the passenger side. Dorman makes it usually.

yes, has anyone changed a wheel speed sensor harness for this 2002 pontiac grand prix? my question is where does the harness 2 wires hook up too? and is it a hard job to do?

The ABS and TCS Off indicators are always lit on my 99. A year or two ago I had a shop read the ABS codes which revealed that the ABS electronic module had failed. The part was $1000 and I was reluctant to spend that. So now I just try to keep some extra space in front of me.

Extra distance is unnecessary since ABS does not decrease stopping distance. The whole point of ABS isn't to decrease stopping distance, its to "maintain control."

Doc - If you're handy with a couple different tools, replacement Bosch 5 units are sometimes more reasonable than that. I've seen them for under $100 with a one-year warranty on eBay.

A bad hub could cause it, but you'd still have some sort of DTC.

Two things though, your reader has to be capable of reading ABS codes, and two, the ABS light has to be on for the code to be able to be read. When I had my ABS light on my reader couldn't read it. I went into Advance and grabbed their reader and it showed the right front.

thanks for the help, my abs&trac light is on all time. i have a reader that is supposed to be abs and it still doesn't show no codes on reader?

It would still be helpful to have the actual error codes.
