Mate!

I doubt the yanks know what a 1200 SSS is, there rare enough down this way. (I assume your a kiwi or an Aussie.)
As far as I know they never sold out side of NZ, Ausi, or Japan.

I know one of the guys who was working as an enginer at Nissan here in NZ and helpd create the SSS.
The story reads a little like that of the new Holden Coupe.
The fisrt SSS was created with out backing from Japan, or from the NZ managment. However when it was shown to them they were extremly impressed, and imediatly showed it to thier Japanese bosses, who also loved it, and saw the potential in it.

The car was quickly launched, all the parts being made in NZ, and shipped to either Ausie or Japan for fitting to standard cars over there.
Of course the SSS name became a legand and when the 120y was replaced the name was used on the Sentra for many years, I believe it was last used on the last version of the Bluebird, meaning it hasn't been seen use for several years.

Go the SSS, my dads had 2 1207SSS and my grandad had one as well, not a bad percentage considering they only made 500 of them.

What a car for whats now a 23 year old 1200cc 4 door family car

They are certianly rust buckets!
But if you found a nice rust free one, and then had it rust treated it would be a great car.

They are especialy fast compared to most modern cars, but for thier era they were certianly fast.

You could always make your own one. Just buy a 120y or a 1200 and add some webbers and there are many custom headers out there to choose from. Lower it a little with some block under the back, and some up rated springs in the frount and away you go.... :D

thought it was a bit much, but if it was rust free it wouldnt be too bad.
havent rang the guy so dont know anything about it :)
anyways, i live near auckland, (hehe\, if you know where that is) and the car is in the South island (way too far to go for a car, and besids, im not THAt serious about getting it)

Yeah what exactly is the difference between a 1200 and a 1200 SSS
I know about the 120Y but the 1200 SSS is a mystery to me

Ok, the 1200 was a boxy sedan, with wait for it, a 1200cc engine. (Austin/MG/etc A12 made by Nissan)

The 120y used the same drive trian but in the rounded boat shape body known to so many Kiwis. (most have now rusted away to nothing)
Here in NZ the 1200 was sold in few numbers, but has lasted longer than the more neumerous 120y.
(there was also a 100a which was very small and fitted with an A10 engine and FWD. (my first car :o ) and there was an very rare 120a same car with a 12a engine)

The 1200 SSS and 120y SSS Used a tuned version of the A12 engine.
Orginaly it was developed in New Zealand and the idea went back to Japan and continued on to other models.

Was also 2 door wagon, 2 door sedan, 2 door coupe and ute bodystyles.

What is the difference between a 1200 and a 1200 SSS though? I heard it was the SSS had Mags, SSS badges, Tuned motor including Twin 40mm dellortoes...This sound correct?

The 1200 SSS was only made in NZ as was the 120Y SSS. The differences between the std 1200 and a SSS was, twin 40mm dellerto's, jelly been mag wheels, centre console with a VDO rev counter, high back seats, SSS badges on the grill, boot and glove box, work motor with a different head. The B310 sunny here in NZ was never a SSS.
