98 Jimmy 4X4 Rear Driveshaft

Having trouble sliding my driveshaft back into transfer case.
I see that the driveshaft is keyed by having one missing spline.

I don't remember the transfer case (NPG 233C) being keyed, but I can't really see inside it.

Dumb question: shouldn't the driveshaft just "slide in" in any position, or is it keyed?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not certain of a '98 Jimmy, but a 2000 Astro AWD has a keyed output spline in the transfer case. It's a similar (NPG136) transfer case, so yours may be the same.

Thanks Blue Bowtie.
My X-fer case is a NPG 233C.
Guess I just got to get a better look at it.

If there is a flat in the driveshaft yoke, it's not going to slip onto a full splined shaft. My guess is that you'll find that flat somewhere.
