2WD to AWDPatto SSS 07-03-2003, 12:32 PM In Australia they are called a “Bluebird” witch were 2WD with a KA24DE, 112kw, in Japan they are called a “Alltessa” witch were AWD with a SR20DET, 155kw. I am not real shore on the specs of the Altima sold in the US?! It would cost you a bloody fortune to convert a 2WD Altima into an AWD Alltessa. It would be far cheaper to bye a AWD Alltessa, take all the good gear off your car & then sell it! Because the trains tunnel is much larger in the AWD the rest of the floor pan is different as well, the fuel tank is very different, you would need the entire rear suspension including K frame & differential. Then there is the fun of trying to get the Alltessa computer that controls the center differential (front/rear torque split). This is a separate computer from the engine management computer.Witch requires wheel speed sensors on all wheels like ABS! And that’s just the begging!!!! But on the up side of things they did make the AWD in a 5 speed manual, as well as auto. I looked into converting my Bluebird 2WD with a KA24DE into a AWD SR20DET, the more I researched and the more phone calls I made the bigger the conversion got $$$$$$$ !!!:banghead: AWDSR20 08-02-2003, 06:33 AM I own a 1990 stanza know in Japan as a bluebird. I will be swapping the (low revving, truck based) KR24 engine with the runn-14 engine (that comes with an AWD tranny) this September and I was wondering, since you stated that an converting from an FWD to a AWD is expensive, but if you can get hold of a bluebird front clip from Japan and relocate the fuel cell, it might not be that dreadful. My front clip costs 1000 USD, and it comes with the computer for the rear diff. The Blackbird 08-27-2003, 05:56 PM Personally im thinking of taking an '89 nissan bluebird sss and dropping a 20btt engine in it. but in order to do so im having to convert it to rear wheel drive i dont no how hard it will b and how much it will cost but im happy cuz its what i wanna do so i think its worth it .........BLKBRD......... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
