2013 Rio Air Conditioning Problems

07-07-2017, 07:05 PM
My car is the 2013 Rio LX, with no packages. 62242 miles.

I recently was in a wreck which damaged the condenser (not badly but needed to replace) so I replaced the condenser/recharged the freon. No other major issues have needed repairing.

The air conditions worked perfectly after the car left the shop about a month ago. Recently, the air conditioning has been acting strangely. Sometimes it does not blow cold air at all, and at other times, it blows cold air for a while, and then stops. Whether idling, driving in town or on the highway, the issue is the same. Other times, it takes very long (20 plus minutes) to begin blowing cold air. Sometimes there is no problem at all.

I haven't noticed any problems with the compressor engaging. While idling, at times, when the air conditioning is engaged, the engine briefly jumps from around 600 Rpm to around 1200 rpm, and back again in a matter of a second or two.

Any help would be great!
