I have new heater hoses for my vehicle are the fittings reusable. I have a tool to change them and have a couple fittings in the garage. http://www.ebay.com/itm/371253329460/www.ebay.com/ (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/www.ebay.com/)
I can use a stanley knife with a blade like this and slit the hose on both sides to get the hose off. http://www.ebay.com/itm/332102079608/www.ebay.com/ (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/www.ebay.com/)
The hoses are original as the truck had around 3000 miles when purchased and I never changed them. I plan on doing radiator hoses at the same time.
I have changed anti freeze to green and flushed the system.

I had to replace one recently on a different vehicle. It had cracked. Looking at that vehicle specific forum. All had issues of breaking/cracking over time. They just eliminated that fitting. I did too.

If they are cracking in normal use I will probably replace.
I was hoping some had reused with good results.
I thought Jcat would have had experience with the fittings.

I was told over a decade ago not to mess with those heater hose connections at the firewall. they are only used by GM to save time on the assy line. what I have been told is just remove those quick fittings on the heater core pipes/hoses and use clamps to install the hoses. if you have new hoses with the quick connects spray with soapy water then install..

if the old hoses are removed then installed I was told then they leak , so only a one time use...

how did you flush/drain the engine block ? you remove the drain plugs on block ?

I put a water hose in the heater core and flushed. I disconnected both radiator hoses put in a water hose and used rags so I could flush the engine. If I have enough hose I will hook directly to the core.
