Lotus 56 Indy Turbine, MPC, 1/25

Hi

I only managed to complete a couple of car kits last year, so the best way to start the new one is finishing a racing car: the Lotus 56 turbine car, which raced well at Indy in 1968, before suffering mechanical failure.

This kit is old, so we should not talk about fit, etc... I got a ReRelease with some basic default decals, but Indycals offers what you need, so I built the Graham Hill version. I cut off the lower part of the nose from the bottom part and glued it to the upper nose, otherwise there would have been an ugly gap. The nose is now held by magnets.

The car is painted with TS36, Mr. Super Clear on top. I added some wires, belts and a heat shield around the turbine.

Hope you like it.

Nice, gotta love a gas turbine engine in a race car. The door handle on the back is also lovely :)

Not a kit you see built frequently, and certainly not to this standard! Very nicely done.

Very unusual and beautifully executed model! IMO the pictures without the upper body half revealing the turbine are particularly interesting.

Nice job! Got to see one on the track last May, it's an odd sight.

Neat build! Neat car, and very well done considering the type of kit. Is the engine mounted backward? How does the driveline work?

Amazing subject, great build and painting!

I was wondering about its noise...
