2004 Camry 4 cylinder blue smoke on first start in AM;
I bought this car with 84,000 miles from a private owner and found out that it put out a blue smoke cloud each morning. Most shops said it was valve stem seals and repair would be very expensive. I have a friend who worked at a Toyota dealership who said it most likely was some sludge build up keeping oil pooled up around the valve guides. To resolve this I first replaced the PCV valve and switched to synthetic blend oil and added 1 quart of Marvel Mystery oil. After 2 oil changes and 6,000 miles the Oil smoke is completely gone . I was afraid to try an engine flush for fear of dislodging particles that would clog the pickup screen. Slow gradual cleaning is the best way!
