nerf bars

I was looking through the junkyard for some nerf bars and found some black ones I really lilke on a suburban but when I got under it to take them off I noticed that those were connected by several brackets where most of the nerf bars I've seen have been connected just on both ends. Also, do these trucks (silverado) already have the brackets or is that something I'd have to have welded in order to install nerf bars?
