Transfer case failure 99 Yukon

Just to advise anyone who shall read this-- be it known, that as the internal chain wears inside the transfer case- it can rub the inside of the aluminum housing- causing a pin hole "rub thru" that lets all the tranny fluid out and then cooks the internals- and it locks up. So if I were to have known of this, I could have at least checked the fluid level- mine had a thimble full when I removed the drain plug after it locked up on the wife 100 miles from home.
I highly recommend anyone with 200k+ miles- go out and check your transfer case fluid level- remove the top plug and add as needed- and/or look for the rub thru pin hole...I'll try to get a good photo of it soon.
