Sounds like gushing fluid

When I start my 2003 T&C, it sounds like a lot of water or something gushing into the driver's side of the dashboard, behind the steering column. The sound only lasts a couple of seconds, and only when I turn over the ignition.
Earlier this year we replaced the heater core since it was leaking onto the floorboard on the passenger side in the front of the van, and for a couple of weeks I didn't hear anything. It's slowly been returning, and now does it at every start up, and is getting louder each time.
I don't want a geyser spraying out of my dashboard, and my husband says not to worry about it as long as I don't find any leaking and the heat and a/c work. But I am very concerned, as this is the only vehicle I have ever owned that does this.
It's a 3.3 liter flex-fuel, front wheel driver, if that helps. Thanks!

That gushing sound could be air in the heater core.

Is it something I should be concerned about?

It is not something that is going to cause a catastrophic failure, but it is something I would personally correct. Correcting it should be relatively simple by just burping the cooling system.
