Attaching rear rally car wing

I got a ten year old project, 95 % done and I was thinking about finishing it.
One of the areas that stalled the build was the resin wing. As I don't normally build cars I might have done a mistake as I completed the body (paint/decals/clear) before fitting the wing, perhaps the wing should've been attached and puttied out and then painted all together. But that chance is gone.
On top of that the wing has a poor fit, it will need some putty work to get a snug fit onto the body. I'm thinking of putting some epoxy putty on the wing and then press it against the body to form the shape. My question though is if you just glue the wing in place or if it should be strengthend in any way (the more I think of it the more obvious it feels to attach it earlier in the process).

Anyone that feels like guiding me here?

You could attach it and make it more secure by drilling small holes in wing and on body then inserting small pieces of wire to secure the wing and all you'll need is a small drop of superglue to fix it in place but I would do that after I have the contour of wing levelled out with the body.

^^^ ditto.

Is it legio to paint body/wing when the latter is mounted or finish them separately?

I would finish them separately, then attach the wing as stated above. Just be careful drilling the small holes for the wing into the finished paint on the body.
