1998 base lumina, 3.1 no ABS
My mobile mechanic is very experienced and a former chevy dealer tech and honest.
He,s trying to replace the brake booster and says there,s almost no way to remove it.
Is there a special tool or what?
Does any one have a service manual with removal info?
I called one chevy dealer and they want $900. for part and labor.
They wanted $500. for the part ,
so that adds up to about 45 minutes dealer tech work according to my rough calculations.
Thanks for any advice.

I will not promise that it is like my '92 and '93 Luminas.
If it is, the booster twists off the firewall, preferably after disengaging the locking device.

$900 is totally fukkin' insane to do this job on a '92 or '93 Lumina with the 3.4 engine. I suspect the 3.1 engine is actually easier, and the newer body style may or may not be easier. Basically, I suspect they don't want the job, and quoting three times the "real" rate is their polite way of telling you to get lost.
