Although the final sale price wasn’t revealed, Atkinson put it on the market with an asking price of £8 million ($12.3 million) through dealership Taylor and Crawley. David Clark, head of Taylor and Crawley, was the man who originally sold Atkinson the F1 in 1997 for £540,000 ($831,000) and confirmed that the vehicle was sold, adding “Everyone is very pleased with the sale. There was interest from around the world and it has gone to a British buyer who will drive it like Rowan did.”

Without knowing the final price, Clark did say it was one of the biggest ever deals in the UK, making it likely that it sold for around £8 million. Atkinson, most well-known for playing the role of Mr. Bean, drove the F1 often, accumulating 40,000 miles on the odometer and even crashed it twice. In one accident four years ago, Atkinson’s accident cost £910,000 ($1.4 million) to repair and is believed to be the highest single car insurance claim in history.
