Ford Raptor "Terrain"

This is Revell's Ford Raptor painted in a mixture of Gunze solvent-based #97 gray and #313 yellow paint to look like the factory "Terrain" color, clear coated with decanted U-Pol power can clear. Window trim, hood, bed areas shot with satin black, grille, flares, front bumper shot with a mixture of dark gray, protected w/some satin clear.

There are no decals in the kit, only stickers. I used stickers except for the rear fender billboard graphics, they were scanned and then printed on a laser printer on decal film.

I didn't shoot interior photos, but detailed it out w/shades of black, Alclad aluminum and steel, and used bare metal foil to detail the edges of the console and door panel inserts (easier than masking/spraying), and toned it down with satin clear.

Zero paint detail on chassis, aside from the brakes themselves.

Fun kit, only assembly issue was the tinted rear glass is a very, very tight snap fit. Trim the openings before paint/install will make it very easy.

Looks awesome! I wasn't sure I would like the color once it was done but I do like it a lot.
Great job!

Very nice! The grill needs something, it just doesn't have the look of the big ones, though I've no idea what it needs.

I am getting kind of excited about this kit the more I see them built up here. I can imagine lots of weathering possibilities. Also those tires look superb.

As usual, nice work, Bob. Are you reviewing this kit for Scale Auto?

Thanks!

This was built for me. Right behind it are an Academy Hyundai Azera and Fujimi #24 McLaren F1 GTR LeMans...both of those also for me, will be finished by the end of next weekend. Needed to get a few of these simpler projects done w/o worrying over photographing every step :sunglasse

Thanks for all the comments!

It is a very decent simple curbside kit. If you want to spend a lot of time masking, the 1 piece chassis has a lot of nice engraving.

Lots of good interior detail.

Revell chooses to market their snap kits in a very simplistic manner, basically to kids, and makes an effort to make the box art models look like something a kid can build. Completely ignoring the fact that most of these kits will detail out very nicely for adult builders. They refuse to include decals, stickers is all you will get

Here's the boxart. I just can't wrap my head around their refusal to market to everyone, not simply something that won't intimidate a kid. Question is, does it inspire the kid? Or an adult? C'mon, it looks more toylike than a basic diecast model!
