What does it take to pull the oil pan on a '97 F150 w/ 4.6L and 4R70W? I checked into Auto Zone's repair help and it states to just unbolt it from the block and remove it. I looked under the truck and it doesn't appear that there is sufficient clearance to remove the pan without raising the engine/trans. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rob

Just found out from a member of another forum that the factory service manual states to raise the engine. :headshake That's not going to happen until it becomes a problem. Thought I'd do it as a gesture of kindness since I'm already under the truck replacing transmission and power steering lines that are disintegrating, but not for that kind of headache on a rust bucket MI truck.

Get an engine hoist (2.5T) Capability, and loosen the transmission from the engine, and keep it raised, thats how I worked on my buddies 96'.

Of course take the engine mounts loose.

It's time consuming, but, gave me some alone time with a beautiful truck.
