I figured the LM would be in there close, the base F1 is slower, I think around the 14 second range. Was that test measured with radar or a test wheel?

I just read this article, and I have to say, I am impressed most by the comparison to the motorcycle. It's a pretty damn impressive for a 4 wheeled vehicle that weighs in at 3400 lbs compared to a 2 wheel vehicle that weighs in at only 538 lbs.
Here are the numbers (speeds are in MPH):
Ferrari Enzo:
0-100: 6.9 sec

Kawasaki ZX-9R:

Let's look at just the 0-100 part of that... the Saleen S7's 0-100 of 8.1sec is RIGHT behind the Enzo's 0-100 of 6.9 sec. (that's 1.2 sec different... I'd say that's pretty close.) Who really cares about the 100-0 part of that deal.
NOW LET'S LOOK at the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa
0-100 of only 5.3 sec trumps even the Kawasaki ZX-9R's 7.2 0-100.
But you know what's really laughable? The Hayabusa is only TEN GRAND. Go ahead and shell out the almost FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for your Enzo... I'll get a Hayabusa and still blow you out of the water off the line. (for less than pennies on the dollar).

No shit? Did you think that up yourself? Of course almost any bike is going to be close or faster. Everyone knows that. You don't even have to know anything about anything to know that. The fact that a car is even comparable to a bike is a feat in itself. Honestly, I would rather drive an Enzo then ride a busa (plus there are so many other, better bikes then a busa). Don't get me wrong, I love bikes. I plan on owning one in the near future. But everything isn't just about pure speed.

Forget the Busa, anybody knows a bike can accelerate faster than a car, besides after ten years you'll be lucky if the Busa's worth $2,000, the Enzo's value will only go up.
It's not just the performance of the Enzo, it goes much deeper than that. There is no camparing it to the Saleen which in a couple years will look like it was designed in the eighties with all those fin's, the Enzo, a timeless design like the 250 GTO. The engine bay of the Saleen looks like Bubba put it together in his back yard, and it will likely be purchased by rich Bubba's. The Enzo's is a work of art, like every part of it is.
The Enzo costs lots more than the Saleen and it's worth it comparitavely.

its always amusing watching speed comparisons... the Enzo is a beautiful motor, and has clearly joined the McLaren F1 in status (and its only just been released). i mean this in a very positive light, and think this is saying something about Ferrari's efforts in recent years to convert their F1 dominance, onto the road. *amazing*
in relation to vehicle $$ appreciation as an investment, Ferrari have also been very wise here, unlike their Mclaren counterparts in 1992, by numbering ALL cars as 1/399.... this way they avoided competition for lucky numbers (ie: 69, 88, 99, 222 etc) and yet maintained the client status -- of still being elite (only 399 cars etc)...
it certainly speaks loudly because the original 349 production schedule, is now 399 vehicles one year later.. investors will certainly hope they dont make anymore than that number etc..

The Enzo is good, but not the fastest 0-100-0.
The current world record holder is the Caterham R500, with a time of 11.25 seconds.
0-60mph - 3.47secs
0-100mph - 7.26secs
0-100-0 - 11.25secs
The R500 costs a little bit less that the Enzo at £36k
Info can be found at the Caterham website:
http://www.caterham.co.uk/news/index.htm
Follow the link to 'Caterham slices even more time off world record '
The world record run was conducted and timed using GPS datalogging equipment and bettered the record the R500 set last year of 11.44secs.
Anyone in the UK can pick up a copy of Autocar which conducted the test session.

I don't believe the Caterham is consdered a production car, is it?

Yes the Caterham range are now considered production cars.
Most are now built at the factory, in particular the lightweight range that the R500 belongs in.
I would imagine that production numbers for Caterhams exceed those of Ferrari and certainly of the McLaren F1LM (which was fitted with slicks when in recorded 11.5secs). I believe that only about 5 of the F1LM's were made.
You are right though, it is a very debatable point as to what makes a production car, but the R500 currently holds the World Record for the 0-100-0 trail.
Not knocking the Enzo in anyway, I personally think its an amazing car both in terms of performance and looks.
I just have a soft spot for Caterhams and cars of this nature, ever since my dad got into kit cars (when I was V. little) I've loved the idea of very light weight cars with highly tuned engines. Guess its a bit of the closest you can get to a bike with 4 wheels thing.
The R500 in the Autocar test was stock with road tyres
