Williams FW19 - F1 1/24 Revell

Dear all,
I show you my work relevant to 1/24 Revell kit; it's the FW19 Williams that alowed Jacques Villeneuve to became World Champion in 1997 after
a battle with Michael Schumachers' Ferrari F310B (unfortunately the last 1997 race at Jerez wasn't a good day for Ferrari supporters like me, also for the
volunteer collision generated by Schumacher to the rival:mad:; anyway that's the past)

The kit has not a big number of parts and they fit quite well.
The real problem are the decals that despite a huge use of softener are not easy to apply and broke easily.

The original kit replaces tobacco logos with a "question mark" used during French GP (if i remember well); honestly I don't like this livery and
I found on the web the original tobacco logos. It was very difficult because I found only a 1/20 decal sheet available for this car; for this reason the logos that I've used in this kit are a sort of mix between different decal sheet .

The sidewall of each tyre presents the "Goodyear logo" impressed on the surface (I don't know why..); I've rubbed them in order to get a polish surface for decals application

The quality of decals are not so good for this kit,
probably the sheet is very old.. Neither microsol /microset helped me so much.
Decals of other Revell kits that I made in the past weren't so hard to apply as these ones.

For this reason I suppose that I'll use X-22 Tamiya acrylic clear instead of TS-13 that I usually use
because is less aggressive with decals.

Bye

Nice work man. I finished that exact same kit, but I couldn't get a hold of. Rothmans decals, had to print them. Car looks good. Yours looks AWESOME.

How do you use your clear coats with Ts-13? Light mists unless decals are fragile??

It's coming along very well. I heard a lot of bad comments about this model kit mostly in regards of the fit of the parts that made me think twice when I look to my kit's box. But you are changing my mind.

Which color did you use for the blue? It looks spot on.

Thanks for share your w.i.p.

Dear all,
Thank you for your comments:-)

At the moment I have no much time to continue this wip,
but I hope I'll proceed soon with next steps

I answer to your questions:

F1-fan: I used "TS-15 Tamiya blue" for car body and " TS-26 pure white"for white surfaces not covered by white decals;

Mario Fdz: I try to explain what I do:
I usually apply TS-13 spray clear to the Model in order to fix decals.
TS-13 is very good in my opinion, but decals must have good quality in order to guarantee a good ahesion to surface or it could break up them.
Being decals of poor quality (except tobacco ones that I bought apart) I avoid TS-13 and I use x22 clear (which is not aggressive to decals) for avoiding possibility of ahestetic problems.

I hope that my explanation could be useful for you :-)

You don't have any issues spraying x22 over lacquers or enamels?

About x-22 over enamels I can't answer to you because I've never done it;
about x-22 over laquers you must apply a very light coat with a right mix between x-22 and its thinner and a right distance from the piece.
I suggest you to try before on a draft surface avoiding disaster on the Model ( unfortunately I did some disaster at the first time...)
After clear application I use the micromesh for a good surface finishing.
I repeat polishing and clear application operations as I reach a good surface aspect.

Unfortunately there is a little problem:I lost the right mirror and I have
to replace it :-(
How can I made the lost mirror?
Do you have any suggestion (for example 3D print?)

The mirror is shown in the following picture

At the end I've built the mirror using wood and a little iron pin as suport

I'm sorry, but I can't upload the Image
the size of file is within 300kb, but the answer is upload of file failed, why?
