VW Golf mk1 GTI

Here's my other new project. The newest Revell Golf 1 GTI. It's just released a few days ago. I really can't wait to start it.

I'll build it for a dutch magazine.

I've seen a test version of this kit with Pirelli wheels, but it's not in this kit. There are only ugly steel wheels. I'll replace them with these nice Aoshima wheels. Don't know the name of them. My Japanese is very bad :D

I already knew I want to paint it Silver. I'll use Peugeot Gris Quartz.

I'm looking forward to building my one of these, so I shall follow along closely. It's great that they give both LH and RH dashes.

This will be very interesting indeed! I have stalled my Fujimi build ever since the news broke that Revell was doing the Mk1 (ok, so maybe I would have gotten nowhere anyway, but still i had a valid excuse this time).

I know of at least 4 other wheels that would fit beautifully... ;)

The wheels shown on the box are Hayashi Racing Street II but the contents are five lug version Rays Engineering Volk Mesh.

Lucky bastard. We have to wait until the 1st of the year for the North American version.Can't wait to see the progress. (The wheels are fine by the way, though I was disappointed when I opened my own set to find the wheels didn't match the box are.

My guess is that they will sell tons and tons of this kit... Such an iconic car !
What about racing/rally transkits ? :naughty:

Body ready for primer and paint. The Peugeot paint wasn't very good. I had a lot of troubles with it. So I used an other kind of silver from Mercedes-Benz.

Engine is done. I added sparkplug wiring and nothing more. The engine is already pretty detailed I think.

Clearcoated the body and added the decals. I also painted the wheelarches and windowarches black.

Looking good. I like the way the engine bay builds up.

Turing out great! Nice work. (Though my jealousy has increased ten fold as the North American version has been pushed back to late Feb. 2015.) Was supposed to be here this month...

Still one of my favorite all time cars, along with the Mk.1 Scirocco (I miss mine) ...great build!!

It's been a while, but I did a lot of work the last weeks.

First I polished the hood and roof cause it wasn't that smooth. A little bit dust in the clearcoat....

After that I started on the interior. I kept it completely stock cause I love this iconic interior. First I mixed flat en semigloss black together and painted everything. I added the decals and I sprayed the seats with flat black.

I also added seatbelts on the sidepanels and I added interiorflocking.

I also painted the ATS Classic wheels. First I painted them gloss black and AlcladII Chrome. After that I used the smalles brush I could find and painted the black areas. I love the result!

I agree with that. But somehow I wanted these kits so much. And in fact these kits are very nice. A lot of detail, and everything fitts together very well. 10/10 for Revell!

There are no better Golf kits made yet.
