So I am looking to do a few changes to my vehicle I just got and the Climate Control is one of them.

Really I only need knobs but a new set can be about $20. Well looking on eBay I found [eBay link] this digital climate control (http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-00-PONTIAC-GRAND-PRIX-DIGITAL-CLIMATE-CONTROL-AC-HEATER-TEMPERATURE-09355222-/151401002224?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1999%7CMake%3APontiac%7CModel%3AGrand+ Prix&hash=item234033f4f0&vxp=mtr) and I like the look of that a lot better then what I currently have which looks like [eBay Link] this control system. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-00-READ-FIRST-Pontiac-Grand-Prix-AC-Climate-Control-OEM-P-N-16244502-/181084122727?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a29746e67&vxp=mtr)

I see the wiring on the back does not really match, but both are for a 99' Grand Prix. So maybe there is a harness/adapter I can get? Thanks

I did a quick (not thorough) comparison of the manual vs. automatic climate control schematics in my 98 shop manual. Replacing the manual control with automatic control is probably possible, but I wouldn't do it without a very good reason. The automatic system has additional sensors (inside air temp, ambient outside air temp, sun load) not present with the manual. The automatic has a right-hand electric actuator (for blend door) not present with manual. The PCM connections appear to be the same, so I doubt the PCM would need to be reprogrammed.

If want to pursue this change, get the schematics and figure out how to install or spoof the missing sensors. Also, figure out how the controls will work with the manual air flow setup (blend doors) vs. the dual-zone setup for the automatic. May not be an issue by using only the driver side controls.

Good luck.
