What the heck is this? Oxidation? Mold?

Looking at pictures of a potential purchase online (carmax). From just a surface scan, everything looks great, except for this:

Car is transferring to my location. Contacted the regional office where it is located, and they said it's nothing, shows no signs of anything unusual, must've just not been thoroughly cleaned before taking picture. I dunno, smells fishy, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what the heck would cause that (and if it's an indication of anything worse).

If this info helps, this is a 2010 Nissan Versa (I'm broke, gotta go with economy car, haha).

It is entirely possible that the previous owner really was just a grubby so and so.

Do you know where it's transferring from? If it was a coastal area high salinity in the air could have reacted with the coating on the plastic. Complete guess :uhoh: but that's what it looks like to me.

That doesn't look too bad. Just bring an Armor All wipe with you and that should take care of it. If not you can try and push the price down $10. :p
