What it up guys?

I'm making Fujimi's 1/24 Porsche 964 model.
But not a straight build, I'm gonna tune this car looks same with Ammo NYC version.

Ammo is an auto care company in NY. I like detailing car as well, of course, I'm crazy about Ammo so I decide to make this model.

-My previous models of Ammo, Check this :)- (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1135233)

This car is Larry Kosilla's 964 who own this company.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/maxresdefault.jpg

When I start to make, his car was like this, but few week after, he put a lot's of tune on this car.

So I ask him what's changed in visual side, he send me email with a picture.

First of all, trim all body from parting lines to panel lines. This 20 years old kit is so bad to do straight build. Fill unflatten spot with putty.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/IMG_3524.jpg

Took off door handles, make sunroof line(original kit doesn't have),
and replace rain visor?(I don't know what it called) with 0.2mm aluminum plate to make it sharp.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/IMG_3526.jpg

U.S type bumper has thick plate guard, so make this one with polyester putty.

Front brake ducts and 993 side view mirrors from Fujimi 964 RSR kit.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/DSC_2200.jpg

Larry tuned his car dual exhaust but original kit has single hole so make another hole(left side) with hand grinder.

1st, 2nd painting and 3rd wet painting with Zero paint's Ferrari Nero color

But I don't know it's some paint trouble or not, there are so much orange pill so I'll fix it up in next W.I.P

Thank you :)

Here is my new update.

This time, I've done paint works and polish on body.

Apply some point decals, then I airbrushed Finisher's GP1 clear coat twice.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/911-DSC_2816.jpg

While the polishing process, I made some mistake on right side door panel.
When urethan clear completely harden, can't touchup with blend surface so I decided fix up one whole panel.

spray base coat then spray GP1 clear

After body work, I move on to interior.

Add more thickness on side of tub, remove back seat.
Speakers on shelf also removed.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/911-DSC_3151.jpg

Larry's car has Momo steering wheel.
I couldn't fine any that looking steering wheel around me, so I made one with 0.2t aluminum plate.

This car has half-cage as well.
Simple shape to make with 2mm plastic beam.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/blogfilesnavernet-2.png

After paint, apply harnesses on bar.

I tried make round shape knot, but finally didn't use that shape.

Italeri 964 decal used on gauges.

Tachometer and speedometer are tilt 90º anti-clock wise for better visibility on track day.
Clear enamel paint used on top of gauges to glass-looking point.

Continuous W.I.P on interior.

Larry has flat interior panels, so I cut the tub and make panel with plastic panel.
Add some details like door lock, fabric door strap etc.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/AMMO/int.png

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/AMMO/911-013-porsche.jpg

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/AMMO/911-017-porsche.jpg

No more pics but paint interior black, add carpet using by flocking powder.

I cut the suspension and replace rod with 2mm plastic beam to lower chassis 1mm.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/AMMO/911-016-porsche.jpg

It's almost done. only few works on accessories left.

Apply tire shine and paint sealant.
I use flat black rims for track.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/AMMO/911-018-porsche.jpg

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/AMMO/911-021-porsche.jpg

Try temporary assembly. Looks pretty good!

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/AMMO/911-022-porsche.jpg

But big big problem happened after few days.

I try to put clear red paint out from drawer for rear combination lamp,
but whole drawer dropped on the body!! :(

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/IMG_3706.jpg

My whole bodywork f up.

But luckily it was separate with interior so interior parts aren't damaged.

It simply changed to convertible.

So sad. I bought a new kit and doing whole body work again.

See you on next W.I.P!

Hello, AF folks!

It's been so long time since last update.
I start this project 2014 May, but it's still W.I.P because there are so many troubles on the bodywork.

As you can see on the last update, whole bodywork was broken. After new body from new kit, 2 more paint troubles make me strip off all the paintwork again and again so now I'm working on 5th bodywork.

In this posting, I'll tell you about good result.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/AMMO/10645075_780838121959516_1413427005640786791_n.jpg

This car needs some decal works. Especially white decal is necessary for lettering on the window and black paint.

I can make any design of decals I want with Illustrator and decal paper.
But decal papers are basically two type. transparent and white.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/IMG_3730.jpg

Like this license plate prints on white decal paper or transparent paper on bright base color is OK.

Problem is if base color is dark or black like my 964, decal is invisible because normal printer can not print white color.

I've been thinking about the way print white decals so long time.

Then I found 3 way to make custom white decal.
1. Order to company like Cartograf
2. Buy printer which support white color like OKI or Alps
3. Screen printing

But 1st and 2nd is about price. They are too expensive for individual modeler(Need more than 1000$).

3rd is bit more inconvenient but the best way I can try around 100$.

So I studied about screen printing few more days then buy some tools.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/IMG_3686.jpg

Template designed in Illustrator.
Few times of trial and error to make screen.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/IMG_3685.jpg

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/IMG_3932.jpg

First, try on 'Mobil 1' on front. I used screen print - inkjet print layering method.

It isn't that great quality I can get from homemade screen printing, but I satisfy enough.

http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/soono87/IMG_3919.jpg

Apply on body and window.

Amazing work. Tragic re: the model getting crushed.
Question, that 1st paint photo, could you explain that technique? I'm still new to airbrushing and have not
seen that done before.

If you talking about this photo, It's based on 'shading technique'.
Military and Aero modelers often use this method for expect more contrast at the light and shadow point of the paint.

But for me, it's for pre paint the weak point which means every edges of body panel, panel line, and some hard to reach areas.
They are easy to missed while normal painting and can cause of color difference end of the day.
Also paint on top of the edge relatively easy to come off while sanding or unexpected contact. That's why I always painting like that in 1st coat.

Hope this can be helpful for you.
Check this tutorial on youtube as well.
