Power Steering Cooler line leaking

Hi all. I picked up this 2004 Chevy Venture for my daughter and it has a power steering fluid leak coming out of the power steering cooler line that runs along the frame in front. I know that the procedure to replace this line calls for disconnecting the intermediate shaft of the steering and lowering the subframe to gain access to the line connections on the rack. My question is, is it possible to replace that line without lowering the subframe? I ordered the new line and it's on its way. I wanna do the job right. Thanks in advance.

Personally, I always drop the subframe down, but then I have a lift and pole jack. I have heard of guys not dropping it, so I think it is possible. I've just never done it like that...

I know it sounds slip shod, but I have seen guys cut out the bad section and double clamp hose in between.....

Well I did this job over the weekend. I did not have to lower the subframe. The fitting of the line on the rack was reachable from the top, just down the driver's side of the engine. The rest was pretty straightforward. It was a challenge getting the new fitting started on the rack connection. You can't see it and work on it at the same time from the top. I actually went underneath and was able to move the line around with one hand while trying to start it with the other. The job is done. Thanks guys.
