Hi guys,

Here is my next build. It's a test build for Racing Decals43. It's the Boutsen-Ginion Mclaren MP4/12C that drove the 24 Hours Of Spa last year. I'm going to use the Studio27 PE set also to include some detail.

Decal instructions:

http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l501/eyckles/2013boutsenginionMclarenMP412C/imagejpg1-3.jpg

First i started with the interior. Like usual there where some molded in electronics boxes, so needed to be cut out and replaced with some plastic card.

After that is start to scratchbuild some new electronics boxes, using plastic card and some Misch Masch. I also made the fuel lines. The where made with some fine solder wire and teflon. It looks good so far after a dryfit

http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l501/eyckles/2013boutsenginionMclarenMP412C/imagejpg1-2.jpg

Next thing i needed to do, is drill a hole in the sidemirrors and put in a piece of brass rod, so i can attach it better during assembly

Hi guys,

It's time for another update. First of all, all parts, besides the body parts, where painted in black, because most of them need to get CF decals or painted with Alclad colors. All Alclad colors are already painted, but need more attention. The biggest problem so far, was the engine. Because i painted it black first, I figured that i could mask of the black and paint the silver. After 5 hours of masking, i send a pm to a fellow modeler(thanks Sam01contact), who made this model before and asked him for some advice. So after his reply, i started masking around the engine ans painted everything silver. Masked again and paint brused the black. It looks pretty good i my opinion, but needs furter detail. Then i started to make the CF templates and started to apply them. Here is where i got so far:

Painted engine:

CF templates:

That's it for now. Many more CF decals needs to applied. The difuser has 19 CF decals only. More to come soon ;)

Hi everybody,

Time for another update. The last few days i've been working on the details for the interior.

The rollcage has been painted with Alclad Dull Aluminum. I used some shrink tube from TopStudio to replicate the protection rubbers for the pilots:

http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l501/eyckles/imagejpg3-1.jpg

The dash and steering wheel has been completed also. First of all I painted the parts in Motip SG Black. Masked of the parts that needed to be CF'd later, so i could sprayed some Scale Fabric from Tenco Proto(similar to Faux Fabric from SMS). Put some CF decals on it. The steering wheel was painted in flat neutral grey from Tamiya and coverred with CF decals. Painted the switches:

http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l501/eyckles/imagejpg8.jpg

The seat is also completed. Used seatbelt hardware from Scale Production:

After a long search for some gold foil for the firewall, i was able to finish it. All long search had to be done for the gold foil first. I even put up some ads on facebook, until i opened up a closet, where i founded a Twix. So i ate the Twix and used the wrapper for the firewall. I used some thinned Kristal Klear to,secure it and the firewall was completed:

At the moment i'm finishing up the interior, so i can start painting the body, but first i had to scratch some parts to finish the interior and engine bay:

Until next update ;)

@Sascha: Thanks my friend ;)

Hi guys,

It's time for another update again. After finishing the interior, it was time to start working on the body. No issues here and that's the first time for me with a Fujimi kit. I opened up all the air vents sprayed a couple of coats of primer. Then painted the white and orange and let it dry for a few days, when i was at the 24 Hours Of Spa. When i got back. I masked of the white and orange parts and airbrushed everything gloss black. I already removed the masking tape and i'm very happy with the result. Here are some pics:

Hi everybody,

It's time for another update. Decal time!!! One of my favorite jobs during every build. First off all i started applying CF decals on the fuel tanks and window trimmings. I thought that shouldn't take more than 2 hours. Yeah right. It took me 2 nights to complete the CF decals. After that. I started applying the RacingDecals43 decals. They are very nive to work with are very thin. Also the livery is correct and there are no mistakes. It took me about 3 night to aplly all of the decals, because i had to start with the big ones, followed by the small ones. This is the result after almost a week of applying decals(I'm very happy with the result):

http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l501/eyckles/imagejpg4-3.jpg

I'm going to clearcoat it tomorrow, so i can start final assembly this weekend and hope to finish it next week. Until then. ;)
