A kid i know wants to race my GSX , he has a 02 neon 150hp . He claims he will kill me , Any info on this neon ,because i really dont follow them too much. Also he claims replacing the cams with performance ones will give him 50hp.

well you have way more hp and torque than him......he is lighter but i bet you can still take him.....


and BTw that 50Hp cam sound like BS....he probably qutes the advertised gains(riceboy style)
......50 hp out of a cam on a 2.0L NA engine...he really must be a comedian.....make us a favor and smoke him

Changing a CAM gear will not give you nearly that much power. He is a ricer and your GSX will mop the floor with him if the CAM gear is all hes done. He would have to do some VERY extensive work or your car would have to be running like crap for him to win.

Guys like that give Neon drivers a bad name. Even if he had a stock G1 Neon, you'd still kick the crap out of him, I'd think.

The Magnum engine (150hp) has a really nice torque curve, but it's offset somewhat by the G2 Neon's extra weight. Just so you know...

Please don't let this ignorant fool color your view of Neon drivers. We aren't all like that. :)

There was this Red neon not the new body style but the one right before the new one. Like a 95 r/t. He took a 300zx TT by like 5 cars, So maybe that kid aint lying. Plus... I know some all motor Neons running 10's and high 9's. So its possible (Maybe he has "NOS")

nah its in no way running Naaaaaaaws..hahah. But um Its stock and he said hes going to add Cams and Cat back exaust and beat me.

BTW that neon must be supercharged + have naaaaaaaaws or sumtin.

I hope he doesn't add cams, considering it's sohc. He'll probably beat you off the line, but odds are you'll come back and beat him.

You have to be kidding? An Eclipse GSX has around 200HP and 220 ft/lbs plus AWD. The GSX will win unless the Neon has some form of F/I.

Oh, I didn't know that all GSX's are AWD...my bad. If it is AWD, it won't even be close.

yea GSXs are AWD , it doesnt work the same with Talons tho the TSI can be AWD or FWD . So alot of people think it works the same for the eclipse series.

The GSX would win for sure, but its all on how u drive. If u were goin against a SRT-4....im not sure?

I had a 01' R/T, it was quick, but not that quick. All i had on that car was a CAI, and could barely manage to pull ahead (Headlights on door by 95) of my friends GSR(Intake, Headers, Exhaust) that ran like crap.
