Replacing front reading lamps

Anyone know the right way to replace the front reading lamps? The overhead console ball socket type. Do I take down the whole console (just had it off last week and didn't know the bulb was burned out, Doh!) and work from behind or do you simply pry or twist out the lens?
The book does not address interior lights for some reason.

According to my '98 C/K manual. Push up and then turn ccw and remove the base & bulb assy. Remove the bulb from the base by pulling the bulb straight out. Reverse for installation.

Thanks. The 97 manual tells you how to change all the exterior bulbs but none of the interior bulbs.
