Motor Updates... And Pictures (56k Beware)-The Stig- 06-25-2003, 02:09 AM AHhhhhhhhh A good day... Got some of the parts onto the motor today. Still waiting for some things to arrive in the mail... Each time I go over the list in my head of what I need to get to get me closer to completion... the list gets longer and with length comes price... So yeah.. i'm still a bit aways... http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_b/288000-288999/288884_7_full.jpg Basically, Whats done so far... It's not much I know but theres still a crap load of goods off in the corner in the garage that belong to the motor/car that wont go on till final assembly or they coincide with other parts that havent arrived yet... My friend came to help me out with the motor. He's my expert, if i've got a question I go to him or his brother. Today was a learning experiance for me, I know where things go and how to put them on, But there's alot to do so I had him help me out and showing me all the steps... cause knowing me... i'd forget something and go to put the thing in and be like.. "AHHHH SHIT!" He drives a '70 Camaro which is pretty damn sweet. And Since :useless: http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/140519DavesFbody1.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/998556DavesFbody2.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/775334DavesFbody3.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/372519DavesFbody4.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/413152DavesFbody5.jpg Motor Specs: 355ci making a bit over 400hp. It's a rev happy motor, sounds great at 6700rpm. That's my truck in the first picture... Yay. Can you tell I'm bored? I decided to get scan happy and upload all these pictures. :cwm27: Neutrino 06-25-2003, 03:03 AM looks liek your engine is getting ready to kik some major a@# -The Stig- 06-25-2003, 03:15 AM :( soon... Polygon 06-25-2003, 04:38 PM Purdy!! What nice big clean looking engine youhave there! Drop that sucker in and go kick some ass!!! -The Stig- 06-25-2003, 07:21 PM Haha, thanks guys Yeah my friend Dave has a really nice Camaro. Bitchen car... inside and out. It's showing its age now-a-days but nothing a little $$$ cant fix. :) Self, the motor is staying with a regular hydrualic lifter cam (Ew!) for now. Its by no means small... Comp Cam Extreme Energy Hyd. Cam .477"/480" Lift, 224*/230* @.050 268*/280* Adv. Dur., 110 L/C But it could be bigger... and a roller! Theres no way in hell I can afford the jump to roller setup right now. Thats almost $1000 for the complete setup. But it should get me to about 460-470hp by just upgrading. EFI will come after the roller cam, that in itself is going to well over $2000 for the EFI kit and the fuel pump.. and the extra lines and all that crap that makes EFI so expensive hahah. The EFI should then get me about 10-15hp... possibly 20hp. With just those upgrades it'll push me to ~500hp N/A. After all that... I'll comtimplate a Supercharger... but by that time i'll need a rebuild or just about... so it'll be a good time to lower the compression to about 9:1 and slap blower on it. :naughty: Self 06-25-2003, 11:06 PM Originally posted by RedNeck383 Haha, thanks guys Yeah my friend Dave has a really nice Camaro. Excellent cam! LOTS of guys over on cz28.om are running it in their LT1s with excellen resuts! You'll enjoy it, although in your 383 it'll probably be ootame for you to kkep for too lo, hehe. You know how addictive power is. On a 350 LT1 the lope is definately noticeable, driveability is superb, with just a tab bit of cam surge under 1800 rpms. So in your 383 you'll have a noticeable lope with probably no surge at all.I myself with be going with XEs next biggest cam in my new setup I believe. The XE230/236. I'm a fan of the solid roller, but if you're not willing to do the maintanence on it every 2 or 3 months it's probably not the best choice. And often, they're not the best selection for a dedicated daily driver. Goodluck Matthew! spy 06-26-2003, 02:20 AM It's pictures like these that make me wish I never bought an import. Oh well, I still like my car better, but that engine is going to be one devastating monster. No one will know what hit them!!! ~A danno_SS 06-26-2003, 03:17 AM Coming along nicely Red:bigthumb:. What is that a Holley 870? Looks big. I like the color scheme on the engine too (classy). Hurry up and get that engine in there. I'm anxious to find out 1st hand what the 383 will do. Oh yeah and your friends '70 is frigin awesome. :worshippy -The Stig- 06-26-2003, 03:24 AM Originally posted by danno_SS Coming along nicely Red:bigthumb:. What is that a Holley 870? Looks big. Oh yeah and your friends '70 is frigin awesome. :worshippy Thanks Danno... its a Holley 750 Double Pumper with Mechanica Secondaries... minimal waiting for fuel! :) Yeah, the motor should be done fairly soon... I drained the checking account to buy all the stuff... things are a little tight around here so the Nova is getting put on the back burner for a short bit. Although, I'm sooo close hehe. SOON though Danno, I promise you that... Hopefully by late summer/early fall It'll be ready. Yeah, Daves Camaro is pretty sweet. He and I have a on going dispute about who's going to be faster. Although its not what you'd think. I say he's gonna be faster. He say's I'll be faster. My reasoning is he doesnt have as high of torque... and will get the better launch and just pulll away. He thinks I'll do just fine on the launch and just be gone... Only time will tell! :icesangel vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
