i really need some advice :(***chevyfreak 06-24-2003, 01:39 AM Hi all i am really in kicking my self in the ass here trying to decide what i want to do. Two options. 1.)turbo charge my 2.2l for around $1800 just for the kit and prolly get 160-170 hp outta my stock internals. 2.)drop in a 2.4l DOHC engine in the 2.2l's place for about $600-700. Get around 150hp stock outta that engine and alot more tuning potenial. My question for you is what should i do, also wouldnt i be able over all give my cavy more speed and more hp for cheaper and easier on the 2.4l engine? Thanks- Autoflow 06-24-2003, 11:07 AM if your willing to spend that much on a turbo I'd just drop in a bigger engine then the 2.4 . I forget what will fit in the cavy but I know its much faster then the z24 engine. chevyfreak 06-24-2003, 03:07 PM well thats the thing, i would rather not spend that much money on just one thing. I am looking for the one with the most potential while also being the cheapest because i cant just go spending thousands of dollars on my car that i payed only 2G's for. Thanks- Nitroustang 06-25-2003, 06:15 PM Why would you pay $1800 for about 170 hp on a crappy engine. Get a 2.4L with a n/a 150 hp. It makes alot more sense. krebs128 06-25-2003, 08:56 PM i'd stick w/ the 2.2L engine w/ the turbo. ur gettin more h/p outta it right there than w/ a 2.4L engine. the 'endless' mods u can do won't do much to increase h/p and lower 1/4 mi times -- that is unless u can drop $4k for a supercharger. unless i'm wrong, they don't make a turbo charger for a 2.4L engine, so the 2.2 has the most potential power at the cheapest price. SpyhunterlV 06-26-2003, 04:11 AM 2.4L has a turbo kit out for it a couple actually.. but if you want to find them check out j-body.org... 2.4 owns the 2.2 any day of the week. there's a reason they don't put 2.2's in gm cars anymore.. it's dated... can only handle barely 10psi and than blow up shortly thereafter... 2.4 with a copper headgasket can handle 15psi.. and the gm supercharger is a waste when the smaller pulleys only just blow more hot air... krebs128 06-26-2003, 07:05 PM actually, they didn't stop putting 2.2's in GM cars, they stopped putting 2.4's in as a matter of fact (sry if i'm being a dick). the new 2003 cavi is only 2.2 engine, no longer 2.4's in them. now that i know of turbos for 2.4, i might swap a 2.4 for my 2.2 in my cavi and throw in a turbo, more h/p...obviously. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
