does anyone know how to effectively remove chrome from parts without having to sand them? Is liquid drano an effective tool, or is there something else that works better?

bleech hu? I never thought about that. I always thought that liquid drano did the job. I'll try bleech and let you know how that turns out.

well the bleech doesn't seem to be working too well. What is CSC?

You post 5 minutes later and say the bleach isn't working? It'll take longer than that. You have to soak it in for a bit. Don't expect to just instantly wipe the chrome off with a rag like magic. You have to get through the chrome, then you have to get the clearcoating off. Scratch it up a bit with sandpaper before soaking so the bleach has some crevices to seep into.

I used to soak them in "Soft scrub with bleach" before I discovered CSC.

Try Easy-Off oven cleaner(in the yellow can) Ammonia also works except it doesn't remove the clear coat under the chrome. That clear coat can react with some paints sprayed over it. The oven cleaner removes the chrome and the clear coat.

I use either Mr Muscle oven cleaner or Brake fluid

And it's done in 5 minutes! Did another set of wheels last weeks and a couple of Mercedes grills as well. Easy stuff.

:iagree: This is an outdoor task! :bloated: Wear protective gears please! Raise all part with soap and water when all crome is removed!

Hope that helps!
