AMT/Tamiya conversion. (bomex supra) 1 picbah humbug 06-21-2003, 01:27 PM I just bought the F+F supra today and I'm surprised. The kit is good. I don't know why the model on the box looks so crappy. :bloated: I think I'm gonna do this conversion for my next project. I wouldn't expect that much progress because I'm also working on a Bn-sports inspired S13. These two projects are gonna need some puttying and sanding. The conversion doesn't look to hard. I really want to do this project twice. :icon16: http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/505507AMTTamiyaconversion.jpg You can't really tell in the pic but I've also done the targa for it already. bah humbug 06-21-2003, 01:28 PM I think i should also one day get one of those SAS TRD hoods. Sidewinder-03 06-21-2003, 01:33 PM That just might work, but isnt the AMT and Tamiya bodies basically the same? Also isn't the Tamiya kit 1:25 and the AMT kit 1:24? That would be a cool, easy conversion though. bah humbug 06-21-2003, 01:55 PM Originally posted by Sidewinder-03 That just might work, but isnt the AMT and Tamiya bodies basically the same? My bad.:sorry: :iceslolan blueboost 06-21-2003, 08:36 PM i'm interested to see how you will pull this off as the 1:25 front facia looks a little small around the wheel well area. good luck with that If you pull it off it would be sweet. whats the method to your madness? why exactly did you opt to not use the AMT kit in total? Bloodhound 06-22-2003, 02:10 AM the Tamiya kit probably got the proportions better, and AMT has flash on lots of bits and pieces by nature. just do me a favor Humbug and make this a single turbo like in the movie! bah humbug 07-11-2003, 01:11 PM After finishing my R34, I'm gonna work on completing this one. A little update with progress, many pics. On the engine the two turbos I scratch build with styrene and so are the manifolds. forgot to mention, the intakes are from the ITR kits. I wanted to paint them purple but blue had to do since I didn't have the color, I must pic it up some time. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/1418752JZ1.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/3648112JZ2.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/2569842JZ3.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/4495632JZ4.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/5730252JZ5.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/745084sideskirtnotputonyet.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/314588sideskirtstage1.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/318851sideskirtputtied.jpg With a little sanding. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/798751sideskirtsanded.jpg I know you can hardly see the panel line but it's there. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/190210finishedattatchingsideskirt.jpg Just needs a little more sanding to do. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/733569front.jpg mhpspeed 07-11-2003, 01:31 PM Looks really good!! Good luck and cant wait to see the ending result!:bigthumb:  bah humbug 07-11-2003, 02:26 PM Originally posted by DSM-Mark My question exactly... I don't wan't it to be 1/25 scale. And I seem to not like the headlights of the AMT kit. Anyways, Since I've got 2 supra kits, I think I'll put one of my engines in a AE86 some time. Midnight Racer 07-11-2003, 02:56 PM Can't wait to see more progress. supratuner 07-11-2003, 03:07 PM that engine kicks ass Towelboy80 07-11-2003, 04:40 PM Originally posted by supratuner that engine kicks ass :iagree: :ylsuper: Awesome project again :ylsuper: Verminator 07-11-2003, 07:19 PM Nice work youve got going there, some people say' if it aint broke dont fix it', I say if it dont fit, force it :bigthumb: progress asap Slipknot 07-11-2003, 10:45 PM that comeing along really good. Honoturtle 07-11-2003, 11:42 PM Nice turbo turbines here! Nice to see you're following through with your conversion! Jimster 07-12-2003, 04:44 AM This is one that is going to be extremely good- I think the engine is looking fantasic, the bodykit is coming along nicely and the targa top is well.....tops :bigthumb: bah humbug 07-16-2003, 10:20 AM Not such of a big update, I'm haveing a lot of trouble with panel lines. I think I've got to rescribe them, atleast on one side. The placing of hte sideskirts are a lot of work for a lazy person. I've got both of them up now. I know it doesn't seem like a lot of progress but it is. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/818443almostdone.jpg bah humbug 07-16-2003, 10:22 AM The hood will remain a secret til I'm done. It looks like a mess right now with unsanded putty. DirtyOne 07-16-2003, 04:54 PM wow its shaping up pretty nice... to tell you the truth, when you started this kit i didnt think youd be able to pull it off... eheheh proved me wrong... i guess ill just crawl back into my hole and die!:bloated: Goran bah humbug 07-16-2003, 05:10 PM Originally posted by DirtyOne wow its shaping up pretty nice... to tell you the truth, when you started this kit i didnt think youd be able to pull it off... :lol2: I just rescribed the lower panel lines of the doors on both sides. For the bomex body kit I fill like leaving something out in the rear and I don't know what you call it, show you guys later. Still needs a little work but I'm nearing completion. The only thing that will need a lot of work is the hood. Just started on it today. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
