Hi all,

My 1st post here. Still modeling after 1/2 a century!

I've recently been acquiring the Tamiya line of 1/12 F1 cars. I picked up the Wolf WR1 off Ebay. It's the earlier version (non PE), and is kit #24. I've also seen this earlier kit labeled #22. How can this be as I know the Renault Re20 kit (earlier), is labeled kit #24, as well? The PE later Wolf kit is #44. I doesn't appear that the kit is bogus, by any means. Anyone help me out on this?

Thanks

In my old Tamiya catalogues these kits are identified by a part number.

The 1982 Tamiya catalog shows the 1/12 Wolf as BS-1224 and the then just released Renault as BS-1226

If you use HobbyLink Japans search engine and tick 'show discontinued items' you will come up with all the later reissues and their numbers

Thanks for your reply. I'm aware of the kit #s for each of the kits, including the newer version PE kits. On the front of the boxes, there is also a number, usually next to the text that states "Big Scale". For instance, on the Renault kit (12026), the number on the front is 24. On the Wolf (12024), it's 24, as well. One would think the Renault kit would be 26, corresponding to the 12026 number. I've also seen the wolf kit as 22, on other boxes. Doesn't quite make sense. Just trying to figure out if there is a mistake or maybe the numbering system changes from the different areas that manufacturing occurred.

Thanks

I've got most of the 1/12 Tamiya kits and looking at them I can see what you mean.

Contacting Tamiya would probably be your only way of resolving how they arrive at these numbers.
