rodeo sticking in park again

Shift knob on my 01 rodeo is again sticking in park. the button seems to have plenty of push back but I have to wiggle the entire knob around until It will finally move into gear. Any ideas on what might need to be done? Details would be nice if you can.:screwy:

It is the safety switch. pull the stick to the left and then push the button.
