Hi recently bought Lumina 2004 LS. both radiator fan clicks when temperature is very high (about to reach red). Also I have noticed when the AC switched on fans are not running continuously, works for few seconds and went off.

I have already tried replacing the thermostat and two relays .

Did anyone experiene this problem ? what to check ?

Please share if any of you have wiring diagram for Radiator fans.

I believe there are THREE relays in this type of setup.....

The first relay is grounded, putting both fans in series.....

Then all three are grounded to place them in parallel....second relay will directly ground the first fan.....third relay will directly ground the second fan......could be a bad second relay, one contact is bad, making the series circuit open......when second relay is grounded, the contact moves to another position, grounding fan with full BAT power......

In series, they are at half speed....in parallel, they are at full speed....

It's also possible that you could have a bad temp sensor....

Usually, low speed is commanded on somewhere between 212-218F......high speed commanded on 226-230F......bad temp sensor or PCM could be the problem....only way to know for sure is with a scan tool......should see low speed fans COMMANDED on, when sensor reads 212-218F.....

However, I am leaning towards the second relay......
