Hey all, i know this forum isn't for talking about cars exactly, but i want this post to reach to as many different car enthusiasts as possible. So on to the point... I want ideas for a fun roadster (rwd) to buy. I already know of the 240sx, Miata, and rx7.

For a simple roadster go to Home Depot buy a chainsaw for $200, and cut the roof off your civic. Now there is a convertible w/ style.:icon16:

You could have well mentioned your budget before asking about the car. A well used Miata is probably your only choice for a decent running car.

Civic's a FWD anyways, unless you drive in reverse all the time (you'd probably go faster that way)

i would say a miata. or i'm sure you can find a nice older british roadster for pretty cheap, just not very easy to find one. i would pimp one.

Yea british roadsters are tight, my friend has a '67 spitfire. anyways how can a miata be my only hope considering u can grab 240sx's for that price too, and what about 180sx?

there are no 180's in the states. they are all called 240's. the 240's came in two different body styles. the coupe and the hatchback ( which is mistaken to be a 180 by some ) the coupe weights less, and if you got the green, you can get rid of that pop up headlight for a geniune S13 projector headlight unit and turn it into a real S13 silvia. the coupes also got nicer interiors such as heads up display (showing a projection of the speed on your windshield) , digital speedometer, and a 7 grand redline. nice~!! but all these options only applies to the 91-93 models only.

Well the 240SX if you want to keep the car for future mods is the way to go- but they aren't the greatest stock- an MR2 and Miata are also good buys

why do you say that? a miata can be made to be pretty insane for less money then a 240. you can turbo it for less money, and the car weights light as hell, and the non turbo engine already has a oil return port for a turbo. so installin one is a breeze.

at one of the autoX races here, someone was selling a later year, first gen. miata, set up for autoX, lightened, turbocharged... for like 6500. so, they do exist for not too much. good luck findin one tho
