** In progress ** Fujimi 1/12 Skyline GTR R32 Nismo (updates w/ pix)skylinehks 06-18-2003, 04:48 AM Hey all, I finally recieved my order from Hobby Link Japan yesterday, and today when I woke up, I decided to take a look at this beast of a kit Hiroboy once took pictures of his 1/12 GTR as well, and I can say that it is exactly the same, except since mine is Nismo body kit, then some parts are different of coruse, but the over all parts are more so the same. To me this looks like a BIG BIG version of a Tamiya R32, so I started building today, the engine RB26 itself took me about four hour to complete... well because I was painting and working as a I go, and of course looking at reference pictures slow you down alot too. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/990049BigGTR001.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/188084BigGTR002.jpg Right here are the two shots I took of the engine. I still have lots of work and detailing to do on this engine before I move forward on this kit... I used all metalizers in this engine block, judging from the reference pitures and the color call outs from the kit, I made my decisions to use what color on where and how. For instance, the Starter is also on the block, but to differenciate that, I airbrushed the metalizer on it to give it a not too black look, but the Starter, I used a brush to set it on. Personally, I believe that the airbrush fade between the two metalizers are great, because they look like how it is in the GTR book, from japan town here in San Francisco. So, I am very happy with the results. I used black, aluminum, gold, and steel metalizers on the engine block, like for the Garret Turbos, I mixed one part gold, and one part steel metalizer to give it the distinct color that the turbos look like, and then used a small sponge to press on the turbo as I sprayed to give it a texturing effect. Since it was a Nismo GTR afterall, I sorta got creative with the block cover, and used Red instead of black as a intention to mimic a JDM feel to the engine. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/318005BigGTR003.jpg Fitting of this kit is a tough job, this kit, as it is big has many detailing that you can do and its nice, but sometimes the bigger kits, have harder molding I believe, so the fitting is not so good, I had to sand a lot under the hood to make it fit to the right size, atlease now there is no gap between the fender and the hood. Neither the less, I took the opportunity to sand away at some of the mold lining on the plastic on the front.... I will slowly progress through to the back as I go. The car will be primered with black automotive primer, and then sprayed Nissan's real Gun Gray, I ordered from a automotive shop, color code is KH2. But I don't see myself doing that untitl next week more or so, but primming will be done this weekend if on shedule. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/352950BigGTR004.jpg Lastly, Here is a comparison between my 1/24 baby R32 to this new 1/12 Scale R32... pretty mean eh? Parts are more so the same, execpt more engine detail, many things can be done with this model, I got all the wires to do the engine braking system, and some plastic hoses to link with certain things. I will reference more when I have time and match with pictures. Thanks for dropping by, comments, advice, and questions are always welcome in my book. tc3house 06-18-2003, 08:41 AM I dont believe I'm the first one to reply  Great looking GTR you got there. Hiroboy 06-18-2003, 08:47 AM I will be following this thread with baited breath :bigthumb: I so want to get started on mine but I'm waiting for a R32 Referance book to come from Japan. I know the kit will take months as I want to fully detail the engine bay, thus scratch building 100's parts. bigfrit 06-18-2003, 08:55 AM Very interesting progress thread, and well done! I can see you take all the neccessary steps like reference searching and so on , so this will be a beauty! Keep it up, and us informed! Olivier Schnitzermann 06-18-2003, 09:49 AM Very interesting !!! Is it any quality in the parts and detalis? Course Iīm into getting one of those 1/12 Big Skyline kits. flyonthewall 06-18-2003, 09:57 AM Kewl! Look forward to seeing the results. Valentino 06-18-2003, 03:01 PM :iagree: skylinehks 06-18-2003, 06:00 PM thanks for the reply guys, I will try not to let u guys down. ok, I forgot the formalities for the kit, so imma go ahead and introduce some stuff that I thought was astonishing or something new and "fresh" that I see from this kit... http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/904214BigGTR01.jpg the box is huge, when I first saw it at my door steps I was like... whao... ** comparison is the router and cable modems on the top left ** http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/843149BigGTR002.jpg Regarding the kits nature, it is not all screws and bolt on, there are parts that must be glued. At the end of the day, the instructions are great, and they do not compromise the detail and they let you see more in a kit at this size. For example, the vents and holders on the engine are all seperate, the engine valve covers, so you can paint each one, and not worry about messing up on the paint when you prepaint everything before you snap or glue them down. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/779275BigGTR003.jpg The plastics that they use, I believe is ABS plastic? It is written all over the box, and some parts on the body, when you add the extra nismo kits and spoliers, they ask you to use ABS glue, so I still need to get some of that stuff sooner or later. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/526228BigGTR004.jpg The decals are something that was astonising to me, well one they are not water applied... they are stickers? I thought this was really crazy, because they got stickers for everything in the car, from the VIN plate, to the stickers on the speakers, and detail in the engine, brakes, individual stickers for the gauges and even Nismo sponsered decals for the model too. The smaller stickers, are metal transfer stickers for the GTR sign on the back, the skyline sign on the hood, and the side GT markers too, all metal transfer The black stuff on the right, are the window masks, you modellers all know, the part we hate the most, the window black painting stuff... NO fear Fujimi has helped us through on this one. On the top left, that is actually the silver foil that has been precut so you can stick them to the headlights instead of painting them. Lastly, the big blue block up there... is sorta mindful of Fujimi to think about, so then people who can't really paint the seats can use these... This is the two tone blue cloth on the black seats with the Nismo GTR... crazy eh? So just spray the seats Black, and then stick the stickers on the located areas and its done... simple eh? http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/802089BigGTR05.jpg These are some of the parts, that are ingenious, but I think a hold back to us modelers, because I would rather paint them clear red and orange, instead of them factory molded in this color, so modelers also have a choice to clear corner the side blinkers or anything in that nature. But I most likely will have to repaint them with the clear orange and red, but Im not sure how the nature of the two colors with mix... I hope it will not turn to dark or thick. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/156751BigGTR06.jpg The quality of the plastics are good, nice detail and thought through for the modeller who wants to finish without doing anything scratch built or of that nature, the kit itself was for modelers who want a professional finish without painting or anything advance, I don't call this kit a kit for advance modellers because if one was to build one box and bone stock, it will be easy to do by the instructions. However, this is a Advanced modellers kit because there is so much room for personal touch ups and super detailing that the sky really is the limits. The engine detail, opening doors can reveal detailed pedal for the gas, brake, and clutch, you can do manything in this kit, just depends how how far you want to go with this kit. OK, that is the formalities and introductions. Thanks for dropping by Peter Ghost_9418 06-18-2003, 06:06 PM Wow, looks a like a really neat kit. How much did that cost? skylinehks 06-18-2003, 06:12 PM Including shipping cost for UPS 3-5 days, and the kit from Hobby Link Japan www.hlj.com the total comes to a fee of 135 dollars, which is not bad at all for this kit, I feel that I got what I paid for. freelunch 06-18-2003, 08:26 PM Let's see the wheels! bah humbug 06-18-2003, 08:35 PM Looks great! Man, the 1/24 version is really small. crismag 06-18-2003, 08:45 PM wow! i want this kit!:biggrin2: njh 06-18-2003, 09:44 PM I be waiting to see it completed. It really looks like a giant beside the 1/24 one. hobbes874 06-18-2003, 10:27 PM WOW :22yikes: that's a huge kit!! :D It'll be awsome though the finnished version will be beastly awsome :bigthumb: Hatred 06-18-2003, 10:52 PM Beautiful, you must be able to put in a tremendous amount of detail into this kit being 1:12 and all. bigfrit 06-19-2003, 03:14 AM Thanks for the info , man ! Only think I do think is a bit   about are the stickers... Are they really like the "toy" stickers, nice , sticky and fat? Well, You could always print them on decals, but hey, up to you . Also, what are YOU going to do with it ? Can we look forward to see a nice superdetailed Skyline? OLivier:cool: skylinehks 06-19-2003, 06:35 AM Hey all, well today was another day, this model kit is awesome, like besides the amount of detail is phenomonal, for a fujimi kit =D. Today was much more body work, I sanded from 400 grit, to 800 to well eventually to 1200 grit to get the body mold lines out and cleaning up some fitting parts and such. The hood had a minor fitting problem, but it seems to be the base of the mount on where the wipers go, so i took a hobby knife and scrapped it lightly to clean out some plastics and then it fit... but i think a little more work on it would make it much better. I started working from 3 to 8 today California time =D, I couldn't paint today, even tho I picked up my black primer and my car paint (KH2 Charcoal Pearl), man this paint has seven different type of paints in there... it so crazy, same as my midnight purple which was LP2, that one had eight different paint combos. So I sanded thoroughly once again the front half of the car; the front fenders, bumper, side skirts, also the hood, I have to prep the body really well and in order for me to fit the kit with the nismo supplied body kits and wing, I have to sand, fit, fill, and re fit, before I can glue it on. And since I couldn't paint, because I didn't have the right gun today, i had to hold off on the painting, because the chassis, and the engine bay also must be the body color, so I was held dead stick there, then I worked on misc stuff, e.i. the back suspension system. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/660763BigGTR.jpg Ok, freelunch, you asked for it, Rims and Tires from this kit, it looks like a real rim, and the tires fit like a real tire. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/855143BigGTR007.jpg Close up picture of the back suspension, not painted yet, and the outside disc break drum is seperate, so I can paint it seperate than from the rest of the piece http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/150463BigGTR011.jpg Here is the whole unit. Why did I not paint the parts before putting together? Because in the referance magazine, the back unit is all black, or in my case, Im going to be using black metalizer, and then using black for the tubing, and aluminum metalizer for the center piece, think it is the back brake controller? So i first fit everything, then paint. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/222705BigGTR009.jpg Sanding... more sanding... three hours !!!! The circles are my finger prints =D http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/185894BigGTR8.jpg As you can see, the fitting is still off.... im working on it http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/746807BigGTR10.jpg Ok in this picture, it is without the hood, and you can see the enormous engine bay, here all the creative stuff is gonna happen. =D, u can see the bridge? where I sanded but you can still see the two nipples on the plastic? That is where the major fitting problem is for the hood, still need more work on that to level the hood. So, I just need to shave the bridge a little bit more. So that is the photographic journal for that section... Bigfrit, I promise you Im gonna do many things to this car... and YES you can look forward to see a nice superdetail Skyline GTR... >>> but you will have to give me a few weeks ok =D So bare with me skylinehks 06-19-2003, 06:42 AM btw, yeah they are like sticker decals, like on a RC Race car, not fat and poofy like the Kid stuff... no no stump 06-19-2003, 05:10 PM Man,I'm right with you on this. You've made a great start:smile: I have the Veilside version, not much done yet:frown: ,been searching the net for good detail pics,:comprage1 Keep us posted hey:cool: cheers stump:aus: :smokin: Mean_B16 06-19-2003, 05:58 PM Wow, i can't wait to see how detailed you make this engine. rsbousquet 06-19-2003, 07:49 PM what a beautiful model.. it makes me sad because i don't have one. what size are those rims, could you measure them in inches? they look awesome.. about 1.4 inches i assume.. badass detail. at that scale everything would look real :) keep us posted skylinehks 06-20-2003, 03:11 AM Hey guys, well im glad it summer because we all got more time to hobby. I am pleased to see peoples interest in this kit, its a great one to build. Makes your mind stretch a little bit. Recent things, since yesterday was that I started fitting certain things to start putting in the modifications for the Nismo Body kits. And I painted the interior to start off of. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/754322BigGTR001.jpg rsbousquet, here is a inch by inch comparison of the rims, I blieve they are about 1 and 1/4 of an inch... but yes, they sure look like real rims tho, the size is quite nice. fits the tires well and the colors are good, I think I will leave them be as like that. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/934887BigGTR002.jpg Interior is painted Gunship grey from Tamiya, the reference pictures call for a darker shade of gray, in the Tamiya model, they call for German Grey, but that is too light for the car iself, the R32, I can't seem to find leather GTR's? I don't believe there were such things, but when I took a road trip to Motorex, the place where they import GTRs, I sat in three R32s, and they are all dark cloth interiors, so for my own eyes, and reference pictures, I will have to argue with Fujimi, and not leave it Black, because there were never black seats in GTR, only grey cloth, and dark blue cloth. The gunship grey fit this profile much more. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/611330BigGTR003.jpg If you can see right, at the door edge it says ( SKYLINE ), that will be painted in silver, the whole floor bar will be painted silver. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/450779BigGTR004.jpg Door fittings, they are find, but you need to bind the chassis with the frame/body of the car from the bottom to seal the gap between the body and the chassis when you open the door, look at the picture above, there is no gap between the interior and the frame, i taped the bottom together to fit the parts to see if they are compatable, or if I had to sand more to get the gaps away. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/837131BigGTR005.jpg Front bumper, I just drilled and cut away the openings to accomodate the GTR "aerodynamic" hole designs, I will fit the parts into when ready, still need some sanding on the front the even out some wedges. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/433989BigGTR008.jpg Here, the radiator is being fitted with the fan, it should be right when I drop the RB26 into the bay. Note that I put the ( Nissan 24 Valve ) sticker on the engine cover... looks neat, and i can read it =D http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/623843BigGTRmergecopy.jpg This picture is a before and after deal, the one on the left is the stock bottom Q' Panel side skirt, and the right is the Nismo spec one. I am in the process of sanding and putting the sides on, hard to kit actually. So that is the progress as of now, everyone take care and thanks for dropping by, I hope to do some more as the weekend comes along. Ghost_9418 06-20-2003, 03:58 AM I couldnt wait for the next update on this one. Looks like it going great so far. skylinehks 06-23-2003, 04:02 AM I love the weekends, so i got to work on the base of the model... man i was sweating like hell juss building it. So i got the following done... - Bottom Chassis - Steerable Column and Wheel works - Finished basic engine bay build. I painted everything execept the Interior (as of now) mostly of Metalizors. Metalizors work well because they are better than just metallic paints... they fit better, and you can buff to certain shines or if you want to have a ware and tare effect. Let me let the pictures walk, and I explain... I know this is the best part of the progress for you guys. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/897025BigGTR001.jpg So this is the engine bay assembly... I did most of what the instructions called for, execpt I didn't use their coloar call outs, but my own. Rightnow some parts are still playable, like I can clean up, but i don't want to make it too clean, because a real car is never clean, so i decided to use the metalizors to give that used effect. The bay is sprayed with KH2 paint (Charcoal Pearl) from nissan... you can buy in half a pint from your nearest auto body shop http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/715000BigGTR2.jpg Chassis... is also painted in the body color KH2, everything is attached and fully cleaned out. no fitting problems here... Plenty of room here to do some detailing, like the bolts, rust, joint wieldings... its a treasure chest here too! http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/160905BigGTR3.jpg You can see here I that did some effects here to make the transmission a little more real, I used what people call wash, to give the wash, used look, its basically all the different metalizors and thinner that people save up (well we can really throw this stuff in the drain you know ) so they save it all in a used can or whatver, like waste... and then dip a paint brush and then let it run on some metalizor parts, to make it more real and give it depth http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/819363BigGTR4.jpg Back suspension and parts were all black metalized and then some aluminum for the brake controller in the back. Gas tank is also black metalizer and then rubbed with a rag to give it a ware and tare effect. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/957732BigGTR5.jpg Front view of the engine bay, inbetween of the front mount intercooler, and the radiator, is the piece that is suposed to replicate the hood latch. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/374817BigGTR8.jpg Back view of the engine, you can see the radiator fan in there... its spins too =D well that is if you twirl something to make it move =D So far, I am very happy with the planning, to finish the model and then detail is a great plan because you can concentrate on the most important things, and then the detail later can make the model even better. stump 06-23-2003, 06:16 AM Lookin' good mate:bigthumb: Chassis and motor look absolutely spot on....great work cheers stump:aus: Bimmerkid 06-23-2003, 08:33 AM ...WOAH! Excellent job! I may just have to get one of those in the future, even though my desk is probably too small to hold that beast..Heh. RyanGiorgio 06-23-2003, 10:24 AM Hurry up and finish that! That things a monster! skylinehks 06-23-2003, 02:10 PM thanks guys, comments are always nice, but uhh... Ryan, haha im not gonna rush this one, the basic build will be finished within the next two weeks. However, all the other builds like the brake lines and hoses must be fit right. So its gonna take a long time to build. My questions for you guys are... 1)How do i make the mesh for the speakers? 2)Anyone seen any 1/12 scale seat belts? Or do I have to scratch build them? 3)How do i flock? is it hard to do? 4)To manipulate burns and wielding marks, what is the best way to do it? 5)Anyone ever done pedels before hand? If you had do you have any cross referance picture of the pedels from nismo? Last question, what would you like to see done to this car... practically that is =D thanks guys, Peter christofurr 06-24-2003, 03:38 AM Originally posted by skylinehks My questions for you guys are... 1)How do i make the mesh for the speakers? 3)How do i flock? is it hard to do? Peter http://www.italianhorses.net/ If you go there, you'll find an excellent tutorial about flocking. Plus if you go to the build up of the R34 GT-R, you'll see a very brief yet good way of making speaker mesh. skylinehks 06-24-2003, 03:48 AM christofurr, holy moly bejesus man, that is some crazy stuff thanks =D OK I am definatly gonna flock this bad boy, but just the seat colors are getting me confused... some pictures they are dark grey with blue gray, then the next moment it is light grey... does anyone know the variations of interior color that was sold? I can't seem to get a solid answer on that. btw, I ran a search a while back, someone on the forums was doing a Ferrarri Enzo... and that was a beaut!!! He has a whole tutorial on iron wields and the color and how to make it so it looks like wielded iron for the exhaust and stuff... man was that car sweet... if anyone can remember who it was can you give me the link, I can't seem to find it under the search So, I finally got a full sized airbrush for painting real cars from my uncle, I will paint within the next few days, im still letting the primer settle and wet sand... but man real car airbrushes are so bad*ss, like one and two passes and you are completely done, its simply amazing =D I got all the aluminum rods for the brake lines, but now im looking at the break controller and the brake drum... im not sure where to really drill and what to scratch build to make it hold... Also on the battery, there is something metal that connects to one of the hoses... anyone know what that is? And what is the best way to manipulate? Thanks ahead, Peter chrismcgee 06-24-2003, 04:11 AM what about using a pair of black stockings, that material is very stretchyand the scale would be verygood for a car, and they are cheap, perfect for speaker mesh skylinehks 06-24-2003, 04:21 AM I never thought about that. . . hrmmm I would think... I would go buy a pair of black stockings for my girlfriend first... *** wipe that idea *** :iceslolan But yeah man, that is seriously some good idea right there. Well off to the nearest TJ Max or Target sometime this week =D haha. I will definately have to give that a try this time. Btw I decided its gonna be light grey flock... and then im going to make my own carpet for the car like this one 1/12 GTR I seen on the web... Thanks Chrismcgee BTW, anyone seen those rubber paints in the auto store? DO they really work? skylinehks 06-25-2003, 04:25 AM ok so today i had some extra time, so I painted some of the interior and then primered everything and ready for the paint job tomolo after school. So far this is the list of things I've done from the last update... 1. The body kits and adjustments have been changed and fitted 2. Rims and brakes have been put in for the fit 3. Steering works 4. Bottom plastic engine guard has been put in 5. Primered, sand primered, and fitted... No problems rightnow... thank god  http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/390233BigGTR001.jpg Brakes were painted with steel metalizer and buffed to shine, stock wheel color, gun metal http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/703457BigGTR002.jpg Hood is finally fitted with no gap, the front small dams have been put in place for the nismo converted front bumper http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/244843BigGTR003.jpg Seats have been fitted to check colors, interior is dark grey with a mixure of blue and dark sea grey for the two tone look, like the reference picture to the 91' GTR, I didn't used the stickers decal set supplied with the kit for the seats two tone color... they didn't look very good, they were sky blue... http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/630106BigGTR004.jpg Back is almost done, prior to tomolo's paint job, the smaller gaps will be filled and tucked, the spolier is still not ready, it has dimples on the top from the two stems that molded together from the bottom so still needs to be filled and sanded... its just there to offset the small nismo back spoiler under it as of now. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/565556BigGTR5.jpg Basic engine work is fully complete with the last piece, the brake drum and steering controller. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/809005BigGTR006.jpg Back side quarter panel kit has been added, suprisingly, even the real cars sides don't match up with the body... but that is how it is supposed to be. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/963176BigGTR007.jpg Engine guard in place and wash dried to give the engine more of a used look for real looking underbody http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/964484BigGTR008.jpg Full kit as of now... its really heavy =P hehe body fits great, and the doors hold well with the panel lines and everything is A OK So tomolo after schoo, I will paint this bad boy... then 90 percent of the basic build will be done. Main concern, the bottom of the side skirt, and the area of where the windshild wipers base is, have to be connected to the chassis and the body to make the fit fit... ive not figured out a way to hold them down yet, because after i paint... it might be hard... and im not sure if regular elmers can do this one... :1zhelp: So thanks for stopping by :feedback: Schnitzermann 06-25-2003, 06:59 AM I must order one of these. I must... must.. Will you add some working stuff like headlights, turning signals, interior light and so on ? The space wouldnīt be a problem. I will try getting lights to mine. That will bring itīs attention when flashing with the lights in shelf ! primera man 06-25-2003, 07:30 AM Very interesting reading so far....keep up the good work and look forward to seeing it done sti wrx 06-25-2003, 11:05 AM that looks awesome, I want one so bad, but have no $$ cph81 06-25-2003, 04:36 PM This thing is big!! Everything looks great!! Except for the N1 duct. It doesn't look right. (Or it's black marker lines around it) I wish someone will make the R33 in 1/12. rsbousquet 06-25-2003, 07:40 PM i love the updates man! i like being able to watcha thread and seeing new updates. is there an r34 in black? if there is i may have to ask for a gift... damn me for having a birthday right by christmas. makes the rest of the year kind of boring. oh well. paint paint paint!!! skylinehks 06-25-2003, 07:47 PM cph81... yeah i know i wish that they did a R33 in 1/12 im so with you on that one. Well, yeah the wholes are completely filled in with putty, I was gonna do the filler for that before i started, but yeah those will be gone, I sorta like them like that gives it an accent on the front end =D rsbousquet, i am pretty positive that no one has yet made a black R34 in 1/12 yet... would be great tho =D Ok off to working on this bad boy... till next time. thanks for the comments guys Cheers, Peter skylinehks 06-28-2003, 02:02 AM ok so the car is now sprayed and mostly fitted... I painted it two days ago... even tho its 102 degrees in Northern California... it doesn't hurt to let the paint and clear to bake for another day =D The car still needs to be sanded juss to even out some clear... suprisingly not too much orange peel this time around... it might be the fact that I was using a real car airgun this time. So everything is fitted, the door and hood hinges are connected... the body is still not screwed together yet, for more stuff to come along, so i don't want to tie it down of now. Rightnow I can safely say, the car is about 85% done with the basic build. But still longs ways away from completetion with the scratch parts and what not... im still considering the lights idea from Schnitzermann, but i gotta plan that out... I think i rather make the ambers blink hazdarous lights =D. I am pretty happy as of now... so here are the pictures, check this... it went from this... http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/964484BigGTR008.jpg to this... http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/488276BigGTR002.jpg Yes it is now sprayed with KH2 "charcoal Pearl" right from the auto body shop itself http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/727394BigGTR001.jpg Real gun metal or "gun gray" from the Auto shop, and a tamiya spray can... no comparison... period http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/151844BigGTR003.jpg Cleaned up the gaps filled with putty for the N1 ducts, thanks cph81 http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/527865BigGTR004.jpg The bar for the winsheild support is still not painted yet, or glued to the engine bay, I placed in the hood hinges and the door support for the opening and closing of moving parts. Does anyone know how to make that foam fire resistant stuff that they have under hoods? How can i recreate that? http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/492268BigGTR005.jpg See the nismo side skirts fit right on the body, as well as the doors themselves fit flawlessly onto the body, and can open and close without any obstrutions inbtween. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/428999BigGTR006.jpg Baby got back =D, it has a low end nismo spolier as well under the regualar spolier. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/858500BigGTR007.jpg This shot is to show you the back side skirt fitting and the fitting of the door from the back. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/718669BigGTR008.jpg Here is the son... the dad is in the back =D hehe, once again a demonstration of a comparison of a 1/24 and 1/12 scale GTR... yeah its huge eh? The color from the gunmetal paint and real auto stuff really shows it difference, but both these cars were clear coated with two part auto clear niether the less. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/995996BigGTR009.jpg Close up of the rim, coloring of the car, and the metalizer brakes inbtween. So as of now... basic build still need to... - Sand, and polish out the body for blemishes and what not - Body detailing paints - light housing, tail lights - engine bay cleaning - windows and prep - exhaust tip - radiator cap and hose - interior (70 percent done) Thanks for keeping this post with me guys, leave comments and enjoy hobbying =D Cheers, Peter BullittStang 06-28-2003, 02:12 AM Originally posted by skylinehks The bar for the winsheild support is still not painted yet, or glued to the engine bay, I placed in the hood hinges and the door support for the opening and closing of moving parts. Detail Master makes underhood insulation material for 1/24 kits. Not sure how it would look in 1/12th..but you might want to check it out. they are the only ones I know who makes it. Check out Detail Master website...type in "hood" in the search box and it will pop up. Good work on the car bro, looks very professional.. can't wait to see the detailed engine. EDIT : actually here is it 'f14102 Skyline GT-R (White) AXES series - 1/12 scale Price AUD Reg: $299.00AUD Now: $199.00AUD ' so about $110-120 American? dunno if its a good deal or not.. rsbousquet 06-29-2003, 08:21 PM amazing.... wish i could grab one of these.. but i'll have to wait :( great work.. when ya get it doen take some pics outside so we can see it in it's true glory! paint looks awesome, it just glows. nice nice nice :bloated: <jealous> blueboost 06-29-2003, 08:42 PM the pic with your hand in it really opened my eyes to just how big that thing really is!! your paintjob is awesome the color is just perfect for the R32 IMO. thanks for all the pics this has been a joy to follow. one thing is driving me crazy though is the cover on the cam gears (the piece that says RB26 on it) should be red, I think it would look much better, and that is the way it is supposed to be. not criticizing you at all, just a small recommendation. Awesome job!! :dogpile: Honoturtle 06-29-2003, 09:25 PM Very nice car we got here! I like the prop rod! skylinehks 06-30-2003, 02:01 AM thanks for all the comments guys... blueboost, your right in the R34, it is a red cam cover, but as like people with R32 and 33, the cover they change is only the top, very few people change the whole unit... got that from my cousin in hong kong... and some pictures i've seen of so called "JDM" R32s in the magazines in Jtown for all the racers in Japan, only the top over is changed, but the cam gears cover remains black... but if I can mix that red again to paint the gear cover, I will certainly make that bit of a detail. As of tomolo... I will post some day time in the light pictures for you guys. Thanks for the posts =D Not much else happening rightnow because school and everything. I will talk to you later guys! Cheers, Peter rsbousquet 06-30-2003, 07:44 AM great :) can't wait... nismo love :bloated: skylinehks 06-30-2003, 02:00 PM Ok guys, here they are the requested GTR32 in the sun pictures. it is 10:56... i got class soon so no time for cleaning the dust and find the perfect focal point for pictures... some might be fuzzy... sorry =T. Car is still in its orginal clear stage, I've not done any sanding or polishing for the body, so it is not to the stage i want it to be yet. I bought the flocking and the wires for the internals Gotta run guys, class at 11:30!!!! Leave comments, later! Cheer, Peter zerrocool 06-30-2003, 06:14 PM great so far, i'm really keepin an eye on this thread Midnight Racer 06-30-2003, 07:19 PM Amazing work.Keep us updated on more progress.:dogpile: rsbousquet 06-30-2003, 07:49 PM awesome man.. no headlights though it looks funny. hehe thanks for keeping us posted :bigthumb: zerrocool 07-08-2003, 05:19 PM up up up, any update allready??? can't wait to see some progress skylinehks 07-09-2003, 01:25 PM hey guys, well its been about two weeks since my last update... many things have been going on including, summer school, my different egg space shuttle model, and then of course 4th of July... I havn't really been working on much on the GTR... but of coruse I don't neglect it. So far when rsbousquet said the car looks funny without front head lights, that was the first thing that I've done, all the lighting in the car is complete to the box stock instructions. Back tail lights have been fit in place and painted from the inside only the center with flat aluminum for that relflecting look only in the center. Doors where set in last time, but there was no hinges or locks, so now the hinges and locks are set, so we can close the doors and they will remain closed. ( also the inside door panel also put into the model. When the basic car is done, I will post pictures... its gonna be a few weeks, so bare with me, thanks for the support guys. Peter, Cheers fairladyz_gt-r 08-07-2003, 01:20 AM how hard was the 1/12? compare to Tamiya's 1/24? SuperStreet reader 08-07-2003, 11:56 AM nice car:bigthumb: 73superduty 08-07-2003, 12:38 PM Pictures and progress like this are the main reason I buy some of these models. I have seen this kit on the bay and thought about buying it. IT looks very easy to build and seems like it would really outshine any model. Brilliant work! Cannot wait for your next update. Chris skylinehks 11-06-2003, 08:57 PM just want to tease you guys =D im back, its been so long like four months.... college really kicks and i got no time to play with my models... Recently, I sanded the body and polished... the clear looks much better now with the sun light. Just wanna tell everyone the car is not a dead stick and im still here not dead... the car will be complete... when I get home, I will post pictures of a MR2 I made for my girlfriend... I didn't do a whole write up on it so it'll be 100% complete project. Pictures of the GTR will be up asap once I put in the windows, and re-shoot the spoiler... some accident happened to it. Thanks for the uspport of this model guys! Best Wishes Peter BTW, have anyone else made another 1/12 GTR yet? ive not kept up on the forums so... yeah 86_SR5 11-06-2003, 09:59 PM Can't wait for the pics. skylinehks 11-14-2003, 01:52 AM ok guys... basic build now is.... 100% complete... Im having trouble with AFs picture thing... four months and the whole system is revamped... so I ran the pictures off my xanga archives. Enjoy! http://i.xanga.com/skylinehks/GTR32.jpg I fine sanded the body with abraisve polishing sheets... from 3600 grit to 12000 grit... and then used model polish to rub it to a shine that you will see soon under the sun... much more effective than the ones in the thread before hand. http://i.xanga.com/skylinehks/GTR32%20001.jpg I added the some piping from the radiator on the right, and then a electronic line on the right of the manifold, then drilled a hole and used aluminum piping to fit a rubber coated wire ontop to the face of the engine... I think that is something to measure the amount of air flow to the engine or something of the sort... and then the intake, I also added wires for the overall effect... still missing are the brake lines from the ABS distributor and some minor stuff like the battery lines and misc. cables and such for a overall fillment of the engine. http://i.xanga.com/skylinehks/GTR32%20002.jpg all gauges and such are done... not much here... I can't flock yet... but I will learn to do so... and then the aluminum pedels are comming... just take the painted ones rightnow as decoys :p http://i.xanga.com/skylinehks/GTR32%20003.jpg Wheel picture... polished aluminum metalizer for the metal effect and the "nissan" is on the calliper now I will post more of the car when I got more space and lighting... hope it was a good project followup for you guys. :feedback: Jonno 11-14-2003, 02:03 AM Nicely done! Although may I suggest painting underneath the hood (if it hasn't been done yet) and using a pinvise to drill out the holes in the brakes... nis.k.a. 11-14-2003, 02:34 AM Looks awesome 73superduty 11-14-2003, 12:02 PM And we still all follow this thread with bated breath.
