I'm considering getting a turbocharger for my car, and I'm curious as to the affects a turbo has on your cars ECU and what can be done to get around any problems it may cause.
I have a 98 Civic EX by the way, incase that helps any.

Also, I've heard a lot about changing out your engines internals before turbocharging. and I was wondering... exactly what parts should be changed in order to keep the car a steady reliable daily driver? (Planning on going with the Revhard Stage 2 kit by the way)

try to grab a backissue of sport compact car that deals with turbos and prepping your car. im sure somebody has links to websites that would help too, but i dont have any atm. 98 civic ex, is that a d16 of some kind? anyway, i highly doubt that engine can take a lot of boost. if youre running like 5-7 psi you might be able to leave the internals alone, and only upgrade the standard things like exhaust manifold, fuel injectors...all the stuff that comes in a kit basically. and thats only a maybe.

re: the ECU, i think it either needs to be reprogrammed or overridden. but im kinda new to FI as well so ill wait for somebody more knowledgable to post :D

re: changing the internals, i think a lot of that is done to lower the compression ratio. otherwise to strengthen whats there to withstand the increase in pressure FI is going to cause. forged pistons, reinforced sleeves, stronger rocker arms, closing the head, etc.
