does anyone know what an S13 240SX with an sr20det swap, totally stock~205 hp, do in the quarter mile?
and what times could one reach solely by maxing out the stock turbo? with the other necessary upgrades, of course
thanks

15-16 seconds stock, i think. i dunno, i'm not a drag guy. :dunno: there've been tons of threads on this before too...you could've looked around a bit first.

if you want to calculate anything for quarter mile go here:

http://www.mrccfl.com/quartermile.html?lbs=2800&hp=205&submit=Get+Results

just take the weight of the car, S13 is around 2630 lbs stock, then add weight of driver(you I'm guessing) and how much any parts increase or reduce the weight

I think the SR is like 100lbs less than the KA

then just take you horsepower in the other box and WALLA!! your estimated quarter mile time

I went ahead and did one for the S13 with sr20det(-100lbs) and just used the average driver weight of 160lbs(total car 2690) and the 205 horsepower and it comes out to be around a 14.6 but that could varry with how good the driver is, upgraded clutch or stock clutch, tires, lots of variables but atleast it gives you a rough estimate

I had a friend with a 96 turbo eclipse, they are about the same weight with same horsepower as the SR and he ran 14.4 at best with intake and exhaust upgrades only incase you thought my calculations were way off

settle down, please. it's not common knowledge as to how much an engine weighs, and if he's wrong, then so what? it's an honest mistake. doesn't mean you have to jump down his throat.

yeppers... he also got weight wrong for the 240, it weighs 2690 lbs.

and remember, that time calculated is for a brand new engine, and with the best possible driver in the seat. a stock ka-t is faster than a stock sr-t if the kit is good.

i believe a stock sr with 30k mi and an average driver does low 15's. it's not worth the swap....

i also note that the calculator link he gave above is right on the money. a 1990 stock ka with 140hp weighs 2690 lbs. by car and magazine, the took the 240 to the track with a professional driver and ran 16.5. this calculator told me 16.58..... right on!! nice link. also of note, do not add in the weight of the driver, it seems the calculator does that already.

the sr engine in a 180sx is 2689 lbs... almost exactly same as the ka

if you want weight reduction get a ca, that in a s13 silvia is 2469 lbs.

next time try typing sr20det weight in google...

google answers 90% of your questions peeps...

also of note, i managed to purchase the name www.rb25det.com -- if anyone is interested in purchasing it contact me.

not to be rude, but why is everyone saying check google? this is a forum about 240's, the point is to ask questions and have them answered. and sorry that I didn't know the engine weight, I'm not into SR's so I wouldn't know exactly

also, thanks mynismo for pointing out that it adds driver weight in, I didn't realize that, but I did mention times varied depending on driver, clutch, etc.

one mroe thing, I double checked and stock s13 weight is around 2690lbs

yes it does... the silvia is a little lighter than the hatchback though by about 30 lbs (not much to worry about...). but as sr pointed out if you have a silvia conversion or a real silvia it will be less still because of the headlights. i dont think 70 lbs less though... but i could be wrong.

google is a lot faster and solves problems quicker. i made a somewhat mistake by asking sometime last week about the indiglo gauges here...... it was all over google, if only i had looked.

Yeah but if everyone were to search google there would not be a need to have these forums. People come here to talk about 240's and Nissan's please don't be a dick about people asking questions about Nissans.

how is he being a dick? he's guiding you to a quick and easy answer to your question. these forums aren't here so you can come and have everything laid out in front of you. some people might do that, but other people will offer you links to other websites explaining it, or will tell you to go to Google as that's the quickest way. he wasn't being a dick at all, he was merely trying to help, so don't YOU be a dick saying that he's a dick when he's not. :eek7:

thank you ike

a lot of your problems will be solved EASIER and FASTER with google. just:
1. go to www.google.com
2. type it in
3. done

for some things you will need to ask... a lot of the things you people ask is common stuff, and shouldnt really need to take up any space in this forum. this is a 240sx forum, not a 240sx faq for common questions.

i understand asking questions that you cant find through google. for example, tire sizes, intake questions, etc. how to stuff for common things is all over google
