there is no crank sensor. everything in the distributor. crank sensor not used til '96.

Yup, it turned out to be the magnetic pickup in the bottom of the distributor.

I learned that if you use a test light to apply power to the pin on the ignition module that the green wire hooks to you can get the system to spark. This will prove that everything else works (coil and ign module) and that the distributor pickup is likely to be the problem.

On mine the magnet itself crumbled. I think that when we got the first cold day this fall it cracked it and that was it.
