Standalone Engine Managementmusicsurfman 06-13-2003, 11:25 AM WHAT IS THE BEST STANDALONE SYSTEM AND WHAT PARTS WILL I NEED? DO THEY MAKE ANY SPECIFIC TO THE SOHC MOTOR? THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP. I HAVE SEARCHED BUT I ONLY FOUND THE TEC3 AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT PARTS I WILL NEED BESIDES THE COMPUTER. mynismo 06-13-2003, 11:40 AM call up these people and tell them you want one http://www.realnissan.com/ its not hard finding parts, its a matter of having the $$ and for all you people who don't believe in the sohc engine, take a look at this http://www.realnissan.com/performance.asp J SPEC SilEighty 06-13-2003, 11:52 AM the electromotive tec3 that you found is a good system. if you order it, then it should come with almost everything needed to install it. you should get the ecu, a flying lead wiring harness, all the required sensors excluding the MAP sensor, software to run it on your computer, and the other required parts. the flying lead harness means that it will come with the wires that you need, but you are going to have to splice the connectors into the wires. some companies, such as haltech, will sell connector kits for a little extra and the connectors will come pre-wired to the harness which just makes it a little easier for you. you should get all the sensors like the trigger wheel/trigger wheel sensor, air temp sensor, coolant temp sensor, and tps. It will not include a MAP sensor though. The MAP sensor allows you to get rid of the mass airflow meter that we are running on the KA's and it measures the pressure in the manifold instead. the MAP sensor will work better for reading the air flow and it will help save you problems of stalling if you decide to use an open atmosphere BOV with a turbo setup. check out haltech stand alone's also because they are pretty good too. the electromotive kit comes with a direct fire ignition system though so it will be a little more pricey then the haltech would be.
