Battery Hold Down for '99 Windstar SEL

I have the wedge thing in the front of the holder and my battery (a Bosch from Advanced Auto) is sitting in a motorcraft plastic container. Still, the battery is loose and just sits there, not being held down. There is about 1/4" of room between the battery and tray when I push it up against the wedge. I think the battery is just too small to get everything to work right. So what are my options here?

Because the battery has not been secured, the positive battery terminal that attaches to the post has split. There are two legs that go to the hold down round thing and one is broken off. I think this is a result of movement of the battery. This post connector looks impossible to replace.

They sell universal hold down kits at any of the auto parts store. Has different sizes, shapes of the "wedge thingy". Sounds more like they sold you the wrong battery.

DORMAN Parts # 00588 is the exact battery hold down for your Windstar, small wedge block at the battery base (front) and long screw to hold it on the battery support. This part is available from Rock Auto (3.97) and from many auto parts.

definitely! i buy red top optimas and the group 34/38? units sold at sams club come with several different add on pieces so that it fits within other sized trays. go back to whom you bought from and ask if there is a adapter that should be used to fit your purchased battery to the car's tray.
