replacing door handle

as you can hopefully see from the photo, the door handle has broken right above the key hole. What I'm wondering is will I be able to use my lock with a new door handle from the scrapyard? I kinda looked at one to see how to get the handle off but I wasn't sure if the lock was able to be removed?http://i.imgur.com/KMnliAu.jpg

You should be able to remove the lock from the backside. Door panel will probably have to come off to remove the handle. Take pics before you remove any part of the handle so you don't forget how it goes back together.

cool I'll have a look. I always do my research in the junkyard so I don't ruin my stuff. Will take a camera with me, thanks

Inner door panel comes off, pop the linkages, and then there is 1 bolt that comes out on the "inner part of the outside".
You can't miss it. After you finagle it out, you'll see that there is just a clip that holds in the lock.
Push it in, and it slides out.

Let me add, because I forgot...there are 2 bolts. on on the inside, and one on the outside.

I painted the points where you'll need to pay attention to...bolt holes...lock clip location

thanks ken man! I attempted to remove one the other day but wound up breaking it trying to get the rods to come off of the back of the door handle.

The rods are held in the holes on the door handle by little metal clips. Use a screwdriver and gently slide the clips back and the rod will pop right out. If I were you I would take a few spare clips from the junkyard for when you do it at home...the clips have a tendency to fall down into the door and get lost.

done and done, thank you! you were correct, as I removed the clips they fell into the door but were easily retrieved. Can't wait to get this thing in, I just hope I don't have any problems getting the door panel off (is there a guide to successfully doing that?)
