Congrats!! I was wondering about the progress.

Went to the "unofficial Ralliart" importer yesterday to talk about this...... (and to order the PE remap). He told me that Mitsu were having production difficulties, hence the delay of shipping large volumes. The first big shipment (of the RS version not RSII) has left Japan on november 2nd. So you'll be probably having one of the few LHD EVO VII for some months to come.

He could show me pictures of a LHD EVO VII with German plates, though. This was one of the two the official press / presentation cars (Red color). These two were actually hand build for this purpose only and flown in directly from Japan.

Any chance you could email a picture of your car (you got my email-address).

Damon

GSR is RHD, for example it has rear wiper, auto climate control (RS-II only manual), remote door lock, front foglights.

I don't want to send pics via e-mail, because they're large. I'll put the pics to a different server soon. Till then you can see some of the pics here: www.duen.hu (my friends page)

So is this the GSR or the RS2?? Is it watered down or got the real stuff, as in 276hp instead of a watered down 250hp? How is the low end torque? Any lag? Did you get this from a import tuner shop or a Mitsu Dealership? thanks for the info..

Damon
11-21-2001, 12:06 PM
Deep
It's the real thing with 280HP, 393 Nm. Goes very very fast, there is only a very little lag. (Next month the team install the Motec, then won't be any lag more :D
I bought it directly from Japan, that's the reason why is this the first LHD in Europe. There is another blue unit waiting for its new owner in Japan, RS-II also, ready to ship. Please mail me if interested!

Damon
11-21-2001, 12:08 PM

In Hungary for about €400 you can buy any free 3 letter - 3 number combination. For about €1200, you can choose 4 letter -2 number or 5 letter 1 number (e.g. MITSU-1).

Hi Damon congrats! :)

I noticed some differences between your car and mine (besides RHD vs LHD of course!) :

a) The Mitsu badge is in red instead of silver
b) There's no rear wiper on your model?
c) On the GSR you can fold the side-view mirrors with a button located at the top-right corner of the mirror controls panel.

Enjoy your ride and drive safe!

Cheers.

Damon
01-01-2002, 03:23 AM
a. b. c. right.
Oh yes, European models don't have rear wiper.
d. RS-2 has manual aircon, not auto
e. and has titanium turbo :flash:

My opinion about the car is almost the same as yours, but I like the rear wing. The steering wheel turns only 2.2 lock to lock, great. The fuel tank's capacity isn't too much :( ACD and AYC works superb. The factory Yokohamas work very well on dry tarmac, but very slippy on wet, and unusable on snow.

Good thing us Americans get nothing but the GSR. YAH!

Crufty Dusty

Now that you mention it, some other things:

1. On the instrument panel, the parking brake indicator is reflected on the y-axis (mine is on the left)

2. The center console is totally different. You've already mentioned the automatic AC. Did you conceal the head unit faceplate?

3. Mine comes with titanium turbo as well :D I would think your headlamps are also xenon HID?

4. Yeah I agree with your assessment on the small tank. Are you going to replace the pedals? I managed to get some Ralliart pedals and they look much nicer. Now still looking for Ralliart mats. What mods do you intend to install?

Cheers.

Damon
01-01-2002, 10:11 AM
The intercooler water spray's switch is close to the hand-brake lever.
I have (still) no stereo in the car. RS-2 has no HID, btw. the bulbs are no H4, but HB3/4. (PIAA extreme white bulbs are on their way :) )
We have a rally team, so mods would be done easily. Our website opens in a few days!
ATL bag tank and a lot of things will be installed later, but the first will be the Hayward&Scott full turbo back exhaust system (have you ever heard about them?) and the Motec ECU.

Crufty Dusty
01-01-2002, 06:38 PM
Yeah the intercooler spray is near the parking brake.... 2 options: auto and manual. So far I haven't found a need to use it, even in the warm tropical climate here. What does your English owner's manual say? :D

Sounds pretty cool. I've also got a good friend to help me make some mods to the car; HKS boost meter, Blitz air cleaner, Sard blow-off valve, Apex'i turbo timer and some other changes to the exhaust system :) (can't say much due to the crazy laws we have on mods)

Cheers.

or visit their own site, Hayward & Scott (http://www.haywardandscott.co.uk) , then click case studies :D (There is the Evo VII) They supply Ralliart with exhaust systems. I bought a full turbo back system, which will be standard on the Evo VII eXtreme. The team install the exhaust today :)
