Automobile mag. artical...opinions...?grncivicdhr 06-10-2003, 05:01 PM i know you might say that this should be in the new drift forum but i'd rather hear the opinion of the people i respect (the members of the 240 forum). S_13, if the thread needs to be moved then so be it, but i hope it can stay here. i'm not sure if anyone read the artical on drifting in automobile mag this month but i was wondering opinions, it stated the 240 as being one of two cars mentioned for the curious about drifting to purchase (the other being the ae86 of coarse). what do you think of the fact that people are trying there best to take drifting mainstream? i guess we'll have more people asking about our cars now. what do you think about what the artical has to say about the sport? will drifting be nascar for the young and dumb? (i think i'll just stay with the safe confines of my autocross courses, but i'm gonna try drifting for the first time this summer i hope). Ohhh and by the way the last sentence in the artical is from the organiser of some big import show (not hot imports nights, the other one). he says, "hopefully in the fast and the furious 3, we'll see paul walker drifting!":puke: Sanchi 06-10-2003, 08:43 PM If thats the case i wana see how, when, and where did he learn to DRIFT. Or is it like part one where he dosent even know how to drag yet, but still manages to win (well he did have all that NAAWWZZZ) And in regards to the mag i think they watch too much Initial D. I understand why they would mention the silvia, but to mention the ae86??? It might be a nice drift car and purty capable at that, but how many ae86's do you see around the streets?!?!?! those cars are so dam old and beat up, im sure i've seen only about a hand full on the streets for as long as ive loved cars!!! Their almost 20 years old. Too much Initial D and they are pushing real real!!! hard to get drifting mainstreem... its kinda sad but what can you do :frown: grncivicdhr 06-10-2003, 08:52 PM sorry to say but i tryed my best to find a corrola gt-s before buying my 240. the artical doesn't glorify the cars really but does go on to say that state side, those two cars are your best candidates for the sport. as far as automoble mag. goes, its the magzine i respest the least due to cronic mis-information and bogus stats. all and all its not a bad artical, i recommend reading it, but skip the last sentence. i think its good to see a professional write up on drifting as long as its not depicted as being juvinial. As i said, i never really tryed to drift other than fun in a parking lot in a freinds car when i worked at the mall. i hope to try it. my fear is that it will be corupted by hollywood and the cool to be an uneducated, no class tough guy hip hop influence (the same as the rest of the import scene) and gets over loaded with jerk offs tryin to do whats poplar to look cool and tough. i don't race to get the ladies, i really on my bank account to do that. btw, i'm not downing hip hop white240sx 06-10-2003, 09:37 PM I also read that mag but in the article about setting your car up for drifting the guy said he saw aftermarket sway bars as a draw back what are your feelings on that? I dont remember what his resoning was but this struck my interest becouse i was considering geting sway bars as a next mod. grncivicdhr 06-11-2003, 01:08 AM i've personally never heard of sway bars being calla draw back, but if its advice from a pro i'd look into it. i'm not a rifter tho so i wouldn't understand why you wouldn't want them. TheLogikal1 06-11-2003, 01:15 AM Originally posted by grncivicdhr btw, i'm not downing hip hop you best not be foolio! yo yo yo, i cant drift, but i slide alot cause my tires are crap and my exhaust is shot my ignitions F'ed up, i gotta use a screw driver i know the FAQ, but im still a damn ricer!
