IMAnewbie?!?!yesterdaysgone 06-10-2003, 04:25 AM Hey i thought this would be as good a post as any to introduce myself in... i just bought a 240sx a week ago so i guess im a new member of the "family". well anyways, i got the car, its in beautiful condition, 1990 fastback, with the sohc ka24e in it, and a stick of course. it was a great car the first 2 days but turned into a (sortof) lemon, in that the head gasket blew (turns out the thermostat didnt work, and the previous owner had left my radiator empty) and it overheated it on the freeway... oh well. i was gonna go ahead and take advantage of my mistake and do an engine swap, like the infamous sr20det, but decided that since i am still VERY much a newbie to cars, ill just keep my stock engine. (its a good engine to learn on) Im going to replace the head gasket, the timing chain, all the bearings, seals, gaskets, get the head milled and maybe rebuild the bottom end... anyways i hope to get a LOT of help from all of you when i get stuck, so here's to all the help i can get! -Karl P.S... no im not getting huge 500HP-gain stickers, or a 5 foot cadboard handle for it, so dont worry about this one being riced... turbo2nr 06-10-2003, 09:11 AM :bigthumb: WELCOME hope you learn alot here good to here about the sr20det swap .. glad to here that you will not rice out the 240sx ither anyquestions you have plz look in the F.A.Q. first then if you dont find the answer then ask the questions. good luck on your project and keep us posted 1 TheLogikal1 06-10-2003, 01:10 PM welcome to the boards. you seem like a cool person. just dont ask any gay questions and read the faq. youre totaly right. ka24 is a great engine to learn your cars abilities from. just dont go overboard. happy posting and dont forget that being nice to people rock mynismo 06-10-2003, 03:28 PM how much is it gonna cost for you to rebuild and replace everything?? if it's over 2,000 for parts i'd say to definately go get a lower mileage sr, because the main advantage of a ka-t is that you dont need an engine swap. but if you're gonna replace everything, might as well get a brand new turbo engine. Suislide 06-10-2003, 04:13 PM welcome to our boards! first things first: check out the FAQ and see if there's anything useful in there that you'd like to know. feel free to ask us questions, and hopefully we can help you along your path to enjoying your car. the name's Brian, i'm the mod around here, and happy to help when help is needed. so, what are your "future plans" for your 240SX, if any? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
