Torque converter recall x 2... And now no tranny!

Sit back and enjoy my Ford story...

2004 Freestar 4.2L with 186kms absoulutley no issues with tranny or anything else.... Take it in to get the torque converter recall done as we think we better as its the tranny... Get it done and hope for another 186kms with out trouble.

Three months later we get a power train light blinking on and off... So we get it scanned and oh guess what, yep tourque converter code... Back to Ford I go... Get told oh it's probably a solenoid or electrical issue...$400-$500 tops... Tech starts into it... Ford engineering has to get involved as nothing is making sense to the tech... Get told they have to drop the transmission out of it... 6 days later "it was a bad torque converter"... So on the 7th day we get it back and at no cost as the converter was bad.

2 days after getting it back there is a chug... Turns into loss of power and feels like its missing or slipping... I think are you kidding me another bad torque converter... A blinking power train light comes on again... Back in to Ford and scan showed same two codes as before... Go for a test drive with tech... He drives... Van loses all power and we have to pull over... After a restart we start to drive away and lose all power again... Limp it back to Ford.

Two days later I get a call from Ford... You need a new transmission... A clutch band from 3rd gear exploded and there is metal shavings everywhere... Ford further offers to put in a used tranny in with 136kms for $2500.

Needless to say we are now goin over every step with general manager and service manager to figure out what went wrong... Am I wrong in thinking that this is somehow related to the work they did and a faulty part? And further that they should be fixing this at no cost to us?

That's a fun story eh. Please comment away with your thoughts.
