large decals advice

hi all
just a quick question to anyone who has used large decals that form a 2 tone paint job on models.
for example i have a nissan r89c group c racer to build and its blue/red paint scheme is formed by painting the whole car in one colour and the other colour is done by the use on the decals.
i am concerned that the decals will be hard to get right and if i dont do it right im doomed.
am i better off painting it 2 tone myself?
if pretty confident masking and airbrushing it...
thanks.

Generally, in instances like this I mask and paint. Too much to go wrong with large area decals and they seldom go on right.

I usually paint both colors. If the shift between colors is shaded I've sometimes used the shaded part of the decal, clearcoated to make the decal edge disappear and then mask and paint the second color.

Whenever possible I use paint. Nothing follows the curves of a body like paint can. Even if you are an absolute wizard with decals, there is a limit to what you can do..
