WAVE 1/24 PORSCHE 917K Le Mans

New to this forum, joined as I really like looking at the ridiculous detail some people put into their models!

I saw this kit on eBay, and I was wondering if anyone had seen it/built it and was it any good. I have done a bit of research, and its a re released version of another, older kit I understand (?) Hoping someone can let me know if this is a good kit or would I be better going for one of the Fujimi ones.

Thanks very much

Search AF in the modeling section. A whole bunch of 917s have been built even maybe a few wave kits.

The Wave Porsche 917K is a re-box of the old Heller kit. Considering the kit was tooled 40+ years ago the detail is very good and in my opinion has a more accurate shape than the Fujimi. It is a bit fiddly to build and the rear deck on most were warped although maybe Wave found a way to correct that issue. The Fujimi kit is very good and is probably an easier build but the front end just looks wrong to me.

Yep, Heller rebox. I bought one after building a Fujimi, sealed it back up and sold it again; just looked like too much work.

Renaissance makes some aftermarket resin bits improve the look of the Fujimi body if you like, or you can try some of the ($$$) resin kits by Profil24, Fisher, or others.

This is WAYYY too much money for that particular model however, and the shipping is insane too... Don't pay over $35-40 US for it if you've decided to go for it. Some of these Japanese ebay sellers are a little not right in the head with their prices...

I 'd buy a Fujimi and spend the money I'd save on a nice set of Studio 27 decals and a resin engine transkit from Historic Racing Miniatures.

Cheers guys.

Gonna give that one a miss. Think I'll go for the Fujimi kit and maybe the profil engine kit. I did think the postage was a little steep as well!

Thanks again.
