Does anyone know of a safe way to remove masking tape residue without crazing or warping the clear plastic. I have a fairly thick layer of the stuff stuck on. 49691

Rubbing alcohol?

Try Goo Gone spray. Just let it soak the sticky and wipe it off. That what I use at work most of my time.

The rubbing alcohol is a great idea. Be sure to test it on the painted area to be sure it doesn't rub that off. If it does then i would suggest you clean the windshield completely (both the residue and the paint) and start from the beginning.

Another technique is to take some fresh tape, place it over the residue, and peal it off. This can remove the reside after a few attempts.

Hope this helps.

Cheapest, quickest & most effective way to remove the tape residue... Tea-tree oil. Easy.

Automotive panel wipe. Cheap and won't harm the plastic. How long was the tape left on..?? I try to leave it on for the minimum amount of time, usually taking it off a few minutes after I've sprayed the black window edges. What tape are you using..?? If it's the tape, try a different brand..

Canola oil worked perfectly.

It was tape I've you use often and it was only one piece of tape that left the residue. It was only on for 2 hours max too. Anyway problem solved.
